Quick update after my (forced!) trip to the Endo today

Went in with an open mind with all your suggested prep washing around in my brain. He was freaked out by my suppressed TSH. Made myself clear that I had not intention in doing anything different but to continue with my 100 Levo and 20 Liro. So found myself having a blood test and submitting to an invitation for a Dexa scan. We agreed that that if the scan is ok that we will carry on with the T3. Watch this space!

Well done for standing your ground. Do let us know when you have the results of your Dexa scan.

Will do. I was getting really cross but kept it cool. Makes you laugh if it wasn’t so ridiculous 🤣

For an endo to be surprised/freaked out at suppressed TSH suggests he wasn’t even a thyroid specialist but only a diabetic specialist

I went through the same before they'd even let me start on t3 as my tsh always suppressed. They don't know why, it doesn't budge even when they reduced levo so i was a zombie. Anyway 1st i was told dexa was fine, next appt a diff endo said it was "good for my age" (53) but next appt another diff endo started reading me the riot act over being on t3 as while my spine was fine she said my hip was "on verge of osteopaenia" she had me in tears terrified of t3 being taken away. She also sprung a surpise blood test on me then and there despite me telling her id just taken a t3 dose so results would be spiked and didn't give me another t3 prescription either! Luckily i had accumulated a few months back up. Next appt im gonna insist on seeing someone else.

I recall being told by a GP (I don’t have a specific one) that I would have heart problems and crumbling bones if I took too much T3. He arranged a DEXA scan on my hips and I never heard another word. I’d choose all manner of side effects rather than crawl around brain-dead.

Yes, Penny, they don't seem to realise what crawling around brain dead feels like!

So would I too right.
