It's said that for thyroid hormone to work (that's our own as well as replacement hormone) ferritin needs to be at least 70, preferably half way through range.
Thank you, I seem to remember it should be further into range than mine is from when I found out about my b12 deficiency, just couldn't recall.
I've just got some ferrous fumerate so will see if that helps. Not really feeling any benefit from my T3 medication and thought I'd look at levels.
What dose of T3 are you taking and are you splitting dose?
I've built up over last 6weeks from 1/4 of tablet once a day and now been on 3/4 for just over 2weeks (20mcg)
If you were already taking levo (say for instance 50mcg of T4) you can switch straight over to the equivalent of T3 which is half of a 25mcg tablet of T3. Then every two weeks you add a 1/4 tablet taking pulse/temp several times a day until you are symptom-free and feel well. If pulse or temp goes too high, drop to previous dose.
25mcg of T3 is around 100mcg of levo.
