Eating healthy is not easy, especially for hypotyroidism and to prevent it. Many thoughts on diet. Here is one that makes sense to me. What do you think?

Hi,

Interesting article, you can look up endo Ray Peat’s website. I try to concentrate on eating cooked veggies for the reasons in the article, and don’t often eat salads (only in the summertime and only occasionally although I love cukes, raw celery and raw tomatoes then). I don’t think it’s so great to avoid veg and eat a high protein diet but Peat has some very interesting ideas.

I am quite familiar with Peat and do as you prepare my vegies. I have noticed the difference when I don't. I think we are different in how well we digest stuff. Peat recommends 150g protien per day, do you think that is high?

Hi Simba1992,

I personally think that's a bit high. I aim for about 60 grams of protein per day, but as you say, we are all different in how we digest and also in how we feel when we eat. I try not to eat gluten, but I do feel better eating grains, much more grounded and satisfied. And I do like to eat cooked veggies. For variety for one thing, but if you can digest them, for the vitamins and minerals as well, and for fiber. Really, I just feel better when I get into a good rhythm of eating (cooked) veg every day! It can be hard because it takes planning and time but I think it's well worth it. (And of course organic when possible.)
