Does anyone or has anyone .. used

Adrenal Cortex at Bedtime to aid sleep ?

I’ve seen references to it .. but I always understood that cortex wakes you up a bit. And not to take after say 1 pm . Any thoughts on this ??

I understood that you take it no later than lunchtime too. Bedtime is when cortisol should be at it's lowest so taking it at bedtime doesn't seem like a good idea.

Interesting. I've been told to take it no later than lunchtime. I know I found with T3 that taking it in the evening I slept really well, whereas a lot of people say taking it then would stop you sleeping!

Many of us find taking T3 at bedtime helps give wonderful deep sleep

It's fascinating how individually we respond to things. But I often wish there was just ONE way of doing everything!

Hi I was told to take it for low dhea (normal cortisol) as my main complaint was insomnia. I thought it would correct my adrenals and I would then sleep, but I still wake in the early hours for 3+ hours. It has stabilised my wobbly temperature but that’s not much use if it doesn’t help me sleep!

I was told to take one with breakfast and the other at lunch. I didn’t think it was meant to be taken in an evening, but maybe it’s like T3, helps the minority to sleep?!

As you have Hashimoto's Are you on strictly gluten free diet. This can help improve stress hormones

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Ideally ask GP for coeliac blood test first

Also what's your recent blood test results and ranges for vitamin D, B12, folate and ferritin levels

Low vitamin D can be linked to insomnia and then low B vitamins

Thanks everyone

I have since found a website called T NATION .. haven’t discovered what it is yet ! But I saw there an article about 1000mg FISH OILS WITH low levels of EPA AND DHA .. small test using placebos showed NO RESULT With the placebo but good results for insomnia with a capsule taken at bedtime ! Just been out to get some !!

Will let everyone know how it goes !
