Marilyn Monroe hypothyroidism?

Does anyone know if she had it? And if so, when was it diagnosed?

I am asking because, I just watched a documentary about her, and her sudden "collapse" in her last years, weight gain, fluctuating weight, memory difficulties...

To me, they were screaming non-treated or undiagnosed hypothyroidism!

- I didn't realize this ever before, only now after I had gone the awful symptoms through myself.

If you Google her there's nothing to say that she had hypothyroidism.

She was allegedly addicted to prescription drugs and her death apparently due to a barbiturate overdose so I imagine that might have had more to do with her problems.

Its possible addictive behaviour patterns are linked to low T3 - sorry no links at the moment ...

I've had a Google as well, but can't find anything to suggest she had hypothyroidism. They have records of her weight over the years, and she weighed 117lbs at the time of her death (1962), and she was 118lbs in 1954. They speculate she went up to 140lbs around 1960, but that could just be down to lifestyle. She did lose it again.

Thinking how tricky hypothyroidism is to spot even today, it made me wonder if it could have been that actually. The symptoms match completely. Sure she was hooked on sleeping pills etc, but that was a coping mechanism. Also, back then doctors gave such medication more easily and some drugs wouldn't even be considered as medication anymore, but simply a drug.

I am not pushing the idea she had hypothyroidism, it's just that it sounded exactly how it felt (for me at least) - getting the weird, variety of symptoms slowly but surely. Not functioning in several ways. - I was curious if the possibility was ever investigated. Also, I hope she didn't have it.
