Do you ingest or take with water?

I'm just curious because I sometimes put the pill under my tongue and then, sometimes, I just swallow with water. I take T3, usually one ten, or two five mcg's twice a day. I took T4 for 26-years &, always just took them with water. Any reasons why you ingest or drink down with H2O would be appreciated. Also, if I take a ten mcg T3 twice a day, is it considered that I take 10 mcg or 20?

Usually it is the total daily dose that is referred to, so it sounds as if you’re on 20mcg daily. My understanding is that tablets are washed down with water to avoid them getting stuck in the gullet and causing problems there over time.

Thyroid hormones are too large to be absorbed by tongue. The best way is with one FULL glass of water on an empty stomach - usually when we get up and wait an hour before eating. Some prefer a bedtime dose, therefore a 3 hour gap if you've had a meal. Miss this dose if having an a.m. blood test and take afterwards and night dose as usual.
