I'm new here on this site - but have been pestered by Dr's surgery to see endocrinologist as I was prescribed Liothyrinine about 20 years ago ? by a Consultant following cyst on throid gland which made it underactive. I am well but now they are trying to stop me receiving this on nhs ? I wondered if many others are in same/similar situations. I have now received endo. hosp. appt. but not with my original consultant. I have other health issues so last thing I need is thyroid medication to be changed when it's been fine for years.

I shall give you a link and write to Lord Hunt and give him your story.

We have had activity for a while on this forum about the sudden withdrawl of T3 to patients who were taking it, especially without notice which I think is a disgrace.

You can also become a member of Thyroiduk.org.uk as the more members the stronger we become:-

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/campai...

It is ongoing at present.

p.s. also write to your local MP.

Thank you - I have not had it stopped yet but soon I have an appointment at an 'extra' endo. clinic. They are so busy with diabetes problems & the main Consultant I used to see has a long waiting list so my doctors surgery requested my appointment. Even though I did not ask for one & I am fine !!! Think partner will come in with me for extra support to argue my case !

A long waiting list sounds perfect for you, why not see if you can change lists to the original endo? The hospital might be pleased to switch you over to the other list😉. Besides, why has one endo got a long waiting list, and another not - always best to eat at the busy restaurant / get hair cut at the busy hairdressers etc ! Surely endos are no different.

I had to cancel one as we were on holiday (different consultant) then checked if still on list of my Consultant (his nhs secretary assured me I was. ). Then this extra clinic appt. arrived so I checked with main Consultants list & from early this year told it was Sept. booking they now said booking for next March ! I also had conversation with appointments line where they said your Dr. requested shortest wait !!! & other consultants secretary suggested I take the appt. ? ! I may try to request he fwds. my name to my original Consultant who prescribed Liothyronine if he tries to change my tablets !!

You are absolutely correct. Naff Endo's are tooting for business at the door but those that are BTN ( better than nothing) tend to have mini queues!
