Hi, all - I'm having blood drawn next week to check my estrogen level and wondering if I should take the estradiol/norethrine pill in the morning as usual, or wait until after the blood test to take it? Thanks and I hope you are all doing well!
Blood test coming up:: Hi, all - I'm having blood... - Thyroid UK
Blood test coming up:
Estrogen when on replacement is best to test between doses. So 12h pas last dose. Or 12h before next dose.
Do not test right after taking the pill (unless there's a reason). As it will give you false levels of estrogen.
I tested mine 24h past last dose as I didn't have facility to test it exactly in between dosing. I take mine at 6am and noone is taking bloods at 6pm where I live.
Thank you, trelemorele for the information. My doctor, however, says he won't test for estrogen, etc. "because the readings are too inaccurate." Can you believe that?? I feel good right now, so I'll just assume that whatever the levels are..they're ok...sigh...
He's telling rubbish. All prescription estrogen sold in the UK are chemically identical to the one naturally produced so it can be tested and it shows accurate metabolized levels in blood.
Only progesterone (most sold in uk Have altered chemical structure) won't show up on blood tests. And the one you're taking (I'm taking it too) is sits in that category.
I wanted to see if the pill I'm.on was giving me enough estrogen so I got it tested. Mind you my GP doesn't understand and cannot read bloods (any bloods) so she was so confused with my request she didn't question at all.
I'm very surprised he said that to me...I might ask him about it a little later...maybe catch him in a more open-minded mood...
Most likely and I'm.happy to bet he doesn't know how to decipher results. Which is astonishing as it's much easier to read sex hormones on replacement than in natural cycle
Hence him baffling you with BS.
Just tell.him to approve test and you'll be happy to draw conclusions.
My endo likes 5-6 hours after HRT for tests. I take two doses a day. They always ask when I took last dose.
