Thyroid treatment...? Help.

In 2015 my doctor sent me to get a thyroid ultrasound and we found 2 small nodules. I also got my heart checked and everything came back normal. I also got blood work done but everything wasn't 100% normal but nothing extreme.

I visited a endocrinologist and he didn't say anything really except that he heard a heart murmur. When I went back to my pediatrician (im a teenager) I mentioned that the endocrinologist heard a murmur but she said that she didn't hear anything.

Fast foward to 2018.

I got another thyroid ultrasound done but when I went to the doctor, the results weren't in yet :( so she couldn't say anything specific about my thyroid. But I also got blood work done and she told my father that I should be continuing to see the endocrinologist. She said based on the results, my thyroid is working too fast.

The only symptoms that I feel is anxiety but only when in certain situations that make me uncomfortable. Also, sometimes I feel like my heart is fluttering - but I felt that a few years back when I was getting my heart tested and everything turned out normal. I feel my heart fluttering mostly when i'm really nervous and i'm thinking too much - like now. I rarely feel my heart fluttering when I'm at ease.

I am now concerned of the concerns about what the complications might be (heart problems/thyroid storm etc.). I don't feel any significant symptoms but ughhh I just want to be 100% treated but everytime I get my blood pressure or heartbeat checked I get nervous and everything shoots up. :((((((( But when I do get nervous, the docs don't realize because I look so calm on the outside - my primary doctor knows how nervous I get though. They'll probably take the readings and what they hear as legit.

Ughhhhhh :(((((((((

I am not medically qualified but I would suggest you get a Full Thyroid Function Test - this consists of:-

TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. Your GP may only do TSH and T4 but we have three private labs who will do all of the ones suggested. I will give some advice on blood draw:-

All blood tests for thyroid hormones have to be at the earliest possible, fasting (you can drink water) (fasting is a patient to patien tip - doctors are unaware that TSH reduces when we eat).

If you were prescribed thyroid hormones you'd allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose and test and take afterwards.

Doctor should test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate.

Always get a print-out of your results with the ranges. Ranges are important as they vary from lab to lab and enables members' to respond.

The labs are Thriva, Blue Horizon and Medichecks. If you decide on a home test make sure you are well-hydrated a few days before so blood is easier to draw and also that hands/arms are warm.

Post your results for comments from members.

Are you over 18? If so, you should go back to the surgery and ask for a print-out of your results - they are legally yours - to find out exactly what they tested and exactly what the results were. Sounds as if your doctors are dithering a bit! If you're under 18, your father should ask for them.

Post the results on here, with the ranges, and someone with explain them to you, and be better able to advise you. :)
