Hi! Since 2 years I have this thyrodisim issue. Some months it becomes hypo and other hyper and then back to hypo and then back to hyper. It drives me crazy because I can't concentrate on what I'm doing and the TSH number change dramatically! Last July my TSH was 0.06 and this month is 8!!!! I don't know what to do. And my heart pounding problem I'm just speechless. Some days I feel exhausted and other great. It makes me sad that every day I'm just conserned about my hypo and not other things in my life. It gives me anxiety and depression sometimes. Anyone else??? Also if you are hypo is it ok to get the uncomfortable heart beats?
Hypothyroidism : Hi! Since 2 years I have this... - Thyroid UK
Hypothyroidism
I had to look at a couple of your previous posts as there's no info on your Profile and I note you have been hypothyroid for two years.
You also state that you are either hypothyroid or hypothyroid. I am guessing that your doctor is adjusting your dose of levothyroxine when your TSH becomes low and then increases when it becomes higher?
If he does this then you should change your doctor as he has no clue what is the correct way to treat hypothyroid patients.
Some patients who have an Autoimmune Thyroid Disease (also called Hashimoto's or hashi's due to having thyroid antibodies which attack the gland and wax and wane and at times the person feels hyper (not hyperthyroidism).
Do you have a print-out of your latest blood test results, with the ranges that you can post so that members can comment or advise?
Do you also get the very earliest appointment, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose and test and take afterwards? If so this is the correct thing to get the best result and prevent a reduction of hormones.
If you have not had B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate tested, please ask for these to be done as deficiencies also cause symptoms.
Hi! Thanks for replying, sorry I don't have many info because I just created my account. My last test says that the TSH=8.4 normal (0.37-4.4) / hypo >4.7 / hyper <0.27
FT3=4.25 pmol/L (3.1-6.8)
FT4=11.53 pmol/L (12-22)
Since July I stop taking medicines, that's what the doctor told me to see the changes, which I mentioned up and I will show him next week. However, for the test before this one which was done on June here are the results...
TSH=0.06 normal (0.37-4.4) / hypo >4.7 / hyper <0.27
FT4=21.68 pmol/L (12-22)
FT3=not mentioned in the report.
When I do my blood test they don't ask me to not eat or drink specific things. I just go whenever and do it. The medication that I took is Euthyrox tablets and the dose change from time to time.
Hi! Can you always put the ranges when you post your results. They differ from lab to lab so without them we should just be guessing. I also wondered if your doctor was changing your dose according to your TSH as well. Is there another doctor at the surgery you can see? If not I would try to find another practice if that's possible.
Oh sorry I didn't know that it's different from lab to lab. I will edit my post and add them. Well there are other doctors that I can see, but many people compliment the doctor I see. I don't know sometimes I feel confused like am I looking the right doctor? Then why I still have the heart pounding since last year, is that normal? I don't know if I should feel this way but I'm so scared to apply for a job for example. I'm a teacher and we know that teachers work so hard during the day. I think I'm in the confusion zone 😥
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies and also very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins
thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. When on Levothyroxine, don't take in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after test. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

Your GP should not have told you to stop taking Levothyroxine
Your last test in July was likely fine
FT4 only just above range
Thanks for telling me. I feel the only problem I have so far is the fast heart beating problem. It happens at night more than the morning, also after eating or going to toilet. That what I have noticed. Maybe I should talk to my doctor more about this issue and see why it's happening a lot.
It's not always easy getting sorted as many things. An make a difference but usually best to only try one thing at a time or you won't know what words and what doesn't. Thyroid Zulu who run this forum have a wonderful site that you can learn from. May be have a look st that and if anything you can easily improve on and gradually. build things up. Shout out if anything you don't understand. Just don't try to do it all at once. I was helped a lot by reading these posts and then seeing what the advice was. As I became better informed I would read, think of my reply and then look at the replies to see if I was understanding more. The best place to start is how to take you medication and then may be which supplements are good to take and to get them tested. Most of us rattle as we are often low in many things. Keep a diary of what you have chanced and make a not of when you feel the benefit. But also remember that things move slowly in the Thyroid world so take things asxsuggested and you will soon start to feel a difference. Shout out if anything confuses you or isn't helping and many will help
