Your FT3 is currently very low. Low FT3 or low vitamin D often are underlying issue

Your vitamin D probably needs to get a bit higher

Do you supplement magnesium? This can help vitamin D and often helps with sleep too. Magnesium must be four hours away from taking any thyroid hormones

yes I do supplement, but probably not enough. I usually take about 200-300 mg a day. thank you for your response SlowDragon. My doctor has me on 50000 iu vit D3 weekly for deficiency and 5000iu vit D3 daily. I'm also receiving B12 injection monthly .

I sleep better and longer, even now when it is hot, since adding small amount T3 to my t4

Thank you for your response. Were you having insomnia or sleeping problems prior to your adding T3 to your T4?

I never slept well, very restless due to restless legs, overheating then being cold.I have a fitbit and my sleep patterns are much better now and regularly get 6.5 to 7 hours sleep instead of 4.5 to 5 hours!

thanks again. I now have trouble falling asleep, but you have given me hope that this is temporary.

It is important to avoid being on computer/phone for too long before bed and follow other advice. Chatterjee's book, 4 pillars of health is very valuable but it is deffo the T3 that has had biggest effect on me.

Yes, I had insomnia for about 18 months which is how long it took to stabilise my thyroid levels. Once they was stabilised, my insomnia improved, now I am almost back to normal. I still have the occasional bad night. Hope that helps.

I just struggled, I found nothing helped. I was half asleep during the day and dragging myself around, come bed time I was wide awake. It was awful. Once I was on the correct dose I found over a few months things seemed to settle down, I had the odd night with a good sleep and slowly it’s gone the other way, to a good night most nights and the odd bad night. I feel so much better for it. I hope you can find some relief as it’s a horrible time. X
