If you test whilst supplementing, it will show whether the dose you're using is adequate, too much or too little.

If you're taking a B Complex containing Biotin, or Biotin as an individual supplement, you need to stop that 3-5 days before testing as it can affect results of blood tests.

Are you only supplementing Folate? Have you had Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin all tested?

Thank you SeasideSusie!

Here are my last labs;

Vit B12 2000 ref; 184-878

/it's high, but i'm on B12 injections currently, because previous time was low- 183/

Vit D 42.5

Folate 5.52 ref; 3-17

/taking Folate 1000 mg daily since labs were made/

Ferritin 24.74 ref;13-150

/was taking Floradix, one bottle for now, but have to get at least one more/

Vit D 42.5 - is that ng/ml or nmol/L? If 42.5ng/ml it's just about within the recommended range of 40-60ng/ml. If it's 42.5nmol/L then you need some serious supplementation as the recommended level is 100-150nmol/L.

Ferritin 24.74 ref;13-150 was taking Floradix, one bottle for now, but have to get at least one more

Floradix doesn't contain much elemental iron - apparently 10mg per serving compared to Ferrous Fumarate tablets which contain 65mg elemental iron per tablet. You can raise ferritin by eating liver regularly, maximum 200g per week due to it's high Vit A content, and including lots of iron rich foods in your diet apjcn.nhri.org.tw/server/in...

Folate 5.52 ref; 3-17 /taking Folate 1000 mg daily since labs were made/

Hopefully your level will have increased substantially then.

About VIt D, it's 42.5 nmol/l

...and Thank you very much for the recommendations!

By the way, I can't eat liver, i'm a vegan, so I will try with other sources of iron.

Oh dear, that's not good then. As you are vegan then I expect you wont take D3 and it will have to be D2 which I think I have read is not so effective. Anyway, you need to supplement seriously and get that level up to 100-150nmol/L which is the level recommended by the Vit D Council, the Vit D Society and Grassroots Health. Once you've reached that level then you'll need to find your maintenance dose by trial and error and retest twice a year and tweak doses if necessary to keep your level within the range.

There are important cofactors needed when supplementing Vit D as recommended by the Vit D Council -

vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...

D3* aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems such as hardening of the arteries, kidney stones, etc.

D3 and K2 are fat soluble so should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day, D3 four hours away from thyroid meds.

Magnesium helps D3 to work. We need Magnesium so that the body utilises D3, it's required to convert Vit D into it's active form. So it's important we ensure we take magnesium when supplementing with D3.

Magnesium comes in different forms, check to see which would suit you best and as it's calming it's best taken in the evening, four hours away from thyroid meds

Check out the other cofactors too.

*I have mentioned D3 because I don't know anything about D2, I'm guessing it will be the same but can't say for certain.
