Endo Apppointment Next Week

Hi Everyone,

Just again reaching out for some advice if possible?

Next Monday, I have finally manged to get an appointment with an Endcrinologist. My doctor pushed it through as six weeks ago as my throid gland swelled up so much that it restricted my ability to talk. I have had spells in the past where my thyroid had swelled slightly to the extent that I felt like I had a tablet stuck in my throat, but never to this extreme. It was so painful.

Since that episode and the refereal was requested, the thyroid has reduced back to where it feels like I have something stuck in my throat, but has not gone away all together. It seems to flare up over the day and then settle over night - and Im sure that I get a temperature and feel like I have a cold coming at this point.

I do have confimed hashimoto's and currenlty swing between 100mcg & 125mcg levo daily, but seem to be over-medicted one minute, and then under-medicated the next. I am also convinced that my immune system does't work well at all......I'm just getting over the second bout of shingles...

Im just wondering if you think the consultant will just try to fob me off, and what my chances are of convincing him to take away the thyroid so that at least I don't have to live with the swelling and its choking feeling. Also, this woulld hopefully remove the constant nagging at my doctor to amend my med levels? I just feel llike I want the thyroid removed so I can take control of my life back gain?? Is that possible, or am I barking up a non-existent tree?

Thankyou for any avdice, Im once again always very grafeul for your opinions.

I wouldn't even know where to start with NDT and what I would do with my current Levo drug? I can't keep living like this. Im going to loose my job at this rate.....I take somuch time off even for just routine appointments.

So even a 100% removal wouldn't take away the flare ups? Sorry if I am being stupid.....:)

Look at sourcing your own NDT. It contains all of the hormones a healthy gland would produce (T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin) and was the very original thyroid hormone replacement from 1892 up until the present day. More conducive to the human body as it is made from pigs' thyrod glands. Whereas levo is a synthetic form of T4 which has to convert to T3.

T3 is the only Active thyroid hormone and some of us cannot convert T4 it to optimal T3. Research has also shown that most feel much better with a T4/T3 combination or NDT = natural dessicated thyroid hormones.

To reassure yourself. Put up a new post asking if taking NDT helped members and could they continue working. (Of course, everything has to be increased slowly until optimum).

Thanks Shaws. Where would I get this, and how would I know when I was at optimum?

Is this the supplement that people source from all over the world? I presume that private blood testing would be the only way forward?
