Thank you so much for tagging me marigold💐 ~ very interesting to hear someone actually talking about it, and great to know it's being researched in a serious way. I wonder if the knowledge will ever filter down to GPs? Probably not ~ they're resistant lol! 😄 xx

That was really interesting to watch. Thank you, marigold, for thinking of me. It may sound daft but it's helpful just to know what he sounds like and to get a feel for him as a person too. He'll have got my letter by now about my brother. Fingers crossed! xx

Do let us know how you get on ShinyB . He seems to be like the old Professors at GOSH when my son was there. They were all so knowledgeable and caring.

Oh ShinyB I haven't been reading many posts lately and didn't know you were communicating with Prof Chatterjee about your brother. Maybe I'm psychic ! Good luck x

I'm not directly, but I rang his academic secretary and explained that my brother's GP said he couldn't do anything because my brother's TSH was in normal range (yes, that old chestnut) and told her the family history and the concerns I have. She asked if he's under a consultant at all - he has a consultant psychiatrist who looks after his epilepsy (work that one out lol) - and to ask her if she would write to the Professor, outlining his condition, the concerns , and any family medical history, and ask for his advice and opinion.

The consultant said she was happy to do this, so I sent my letter to HER and to the GP (out of courtesy), outlining what I think the concerns are and listing all the family medical history.

So, he may not have received her letter yet. But I also printed out copies of everything I'd included and posted it to Prof Chatterjee's secretary, asking her to put it with the letter when it comes, just 'in case it wasn't forwarded'. Am I distrustful? Probably! But I thought it wouldn't hurt.

The secretary - who was lovely - said that the Prof would read it and if he thought anything might be awry that he would get the clinic to send out a full blood request to the GP, which the GP would then return to the clinic. IF the professor then felt that it needed further investigation, my brother and relative and/or carer would be invited in to the clinic for proper assessment.

So I am crossing everything at the moment for a good outcome!

Perhaps you are psychic! It was definitely great timing :D Thank you xx
