If you are hypothyroid, I would not be tempted by diet pills.

I suspect you are on an insufficient dose of levothyroxine and if so it will cause weight to be increased.

You need a new blood test. The earliest and fasting (you can drink water) and ask GP to test TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. He or lab may not do all but you can get a private test if you wish and they are home pin-prick tests. If you decide to do this make sure you are well-hydrated a couple of days before and request TSH, T4, T3 Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies.

Your doctor should test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. All have to be optimal.

Increases in levothyroxine or adding T3 (T3 is practically impossible to get these days) will raise your metabolism as I suspect you are on an insufficient dose.

Thank you for your reply. Just had a blood test and my levels are fine. I also take T3 which I source from abroad. Nothing seems to help with the weight loss

So both your free T4 and free T3 were in the top quarters of their ranges? Nothing else is "fine". Diet pills will make you worse by preventing absorption of essential vitamins and minerals, and can make you "leak" from the back end, making going out impossible. You might find that a ketogenic diet or 5:2 works for you. A diet is for life.

definitely not. all diet pills do is either suppress appetite or give more energy. they rarely work and they cause more damage.

If your levels are all optimal start with calorie controlled, nutrient dense diet, weight resistance training and cardio. balance and covering the basics first, then investigate if not losing weight. ( sorry if you have already tried but you don’t mention) . i’ve been 4 stone heavier and now lost it - only lost it when I got my levels and symptoms in check, It’s hard but diet pills will bit work please don’t do it. I say this as someone who has tried it all and only made my metabolism and symptoms worse. I am now a qualified personal trainer so please take my advice, generally people don’t do the basics first before exploring other options. good luck!

Yeah I did.

Great and safe for losing weight. Pretty much stops most fat from food to be digested.

For that reason you can have tasty meals and feel fuller for longer without your body storing that fat as you get rid of it. Orlistat also only works in your gut, it doesn't go through liver and into blood.

The only side effects are gass and greasy poo if you had very fatty meal.

I'd go for it if my GP prescribed again but it's so expensive they refuse nowadays.

Don't use diet pills. Try the Paleo Diet or Ketogenic Diet. And read Izabella Wentz, who is a whizz on all things thyroid.

Don't waste your money. I tried them before I was diagnosed Hypo as I couldn't shift any weight. I didn't lose an ounce despite following instructions and diet. No luck now on Levo, it's an endless battle.

Yes..I was prescribed it many years ago. I only lost about 10-15 pounds on it, which the doctor said that was good, because most people don't even lose that much on it. If you decide to take it, watch out for the oil coming out of your bum if you dare to eat anything with ANY fat in it. I had to stop it, because I was leaking most of the time, but didn't watch my diet very closely. Anyway, that's my observations and experience with it.
