Turns out, on top of adding four stones in weight since my Thyroid “treatment”(radioactive iodine), I’ve got gout. Clever chaps, these doctors. This wins me…yes you’ve got, folks…another, pat on the head from my own, personal Jesus aaaaaaand another prescription. Damn says I, I was hoping not to need yet another pill.
Anyone know if allopurinol will affect my thyroid function?
I’ve also (just about) run out of my Accord Levo and have been given Almus.
I know the wise ones hereabouts denounce changing brand.
Advice please & sorry for the silly stuff, but it is Saturday!!!

You have my sympathies, my dad had gout and it was very painful. Interestingly in the olden days gout was almost a status symbol as it was a rich person's disease, often associated with plentiful food, booze and a sedentary lifestyle.
The poor almost never got it as they couldn't afford luxuries. Not sure that was much consolation when they were suffering however. Hope you feel better soon.
All packs have the PL Holder (or Manufacturing Authorisation Holder) on them which is visible without opening the pack. The position varies.
Almus has the same PL number and same PL Holder as Accord.
The blister packs inside are absolutely identical.
As are, of course, the tablets inside.

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin
Stop any supplements that contain biotin 5-7 days before test
No I’m still on 150. Feel a bit better. My last results were:
TSH: 0.72
T4: 14.8
T3: 4.7
The test was taken in accordance with your recommendations above. Although I’d dropped my levo dose the T3 had risen all be it, slightly.
This, to me indicated a conversion issue possibly so upping my dose of T4 wouldn’t help as T3 was actually lower at a much higher T4 dose. Do you think higher T4 might help the gout?
When T4 levels are too low for the individual the body will prioritise T3 over T4 so conversion can ' look ' good in that you have a ' better T3 ' but if there is not enough Free T4 circulating in the blood - you have no abilty to raise / convert T4 further to give you more energy as needed and likely feel you have hit a brick wall.

My skateboard days never started - I couldn't even get on with roller skates and it took me over a year to learn to ride a bike - my father would take me round in a circle and looking back I think I spent more time sitting on his shoulder than anything else and just getting giddy.
Sorry to hear about the gout. My brother has it & my Dad too. So painful. One wonders about genetics. I've no idea if there's a link to hypothyroidism. What I would say is that not being optimal on your thyroid hormones does mean your body does not run as efficiently as it could so may not be helping. Defo treat the gout. So painful and an attack is best caught early is my brothers understanding. Who knows maybe as you get your thyroid levels sorted the attacks may diminish or even disappear.... Be interesting to know.
