Carpal tunnel and Insomnia

For me the two go hand in hand (excuse the pun)!

Whilst reading in the early hours every other night usually my right hand (mostly) goes numb, currently typing this post with a numb thumb and wondered if anyone else has any experience and if this rectified as meds were optimised?

🤞

Carpel tunnel is extremely common when hypothyroid and should improve as levothyroxine dose is increased

Similarly insomnia in particular linked to low Ft3.

Often low vitamin D and/or B vitamins not helping either

Your last test shows lowish B vitamins and vitamin D

In YouTube video when Dr Gominak talks about vitamin D levels ...vitamin D at 40ng/ml (USA units) is equal to 100nmol (UK units)

I had heard of the carpal tunnel and hypo connection and yes fingers crossed it will improve, it’s so odd as it’s predominantly one sided and early morning!?

Well my GP and Endo seem to be supportive so let’s hope in time if I need T3 I may be one of the lucky ones prescribed on the NHS.

Although I have been taking the spray Vit D my levels have dropped again so the GP rang and has prescribed some which he said would be absorbed better, I’m only a few days in but I do seem to be getting sleepier and sleep deeper.

This video is so fascinating, thank you for sharing, I haven’t watched it all as yet but I will do 😊

How much vitamin D spray were you taking?

Usually need at least 3000iu daily as maintenance dose. Higher if aiming to improve low levels

Important to be supplementing magnesium too (at least 4 hours away from levothyroxine)

Hi

I was only taking one 1000iu spray but GP has now prescibed a tablet Fultium D3 800iu (one a day to start with), must say I already feel a little better so I will see how I go.

Yes I'm taking Magnesium at bedtime the Natural Calm powder - 1-2tsp 😀

800iu or 1000iu both far too low a dose

More typical dose is 2000-3000iu as maintenance dose. Higher to improve low levels

Calculator for working out dose you may need to bring level to 40ng/ml = 100nmol
