Hi,

I have bought probiotic supplement recently as I read some reports online saying that it would help hashimotos to heal. May I know is it recommendable to take it daily like other supplement ? Or totally stop eating after a period of time ? And if taking it daily, what’s the best dosage ?

Yes, take it daily, it populates the gut with good bacteria.

Dosage will be on the bottle.

I don't know what you mean by

"Or totally stop eating after a period of time ?"

Sorry I meant should we just take for a period of time then stop taking it or take it continuously like other supplements ? There is different dosage. I’m currently taking 100 billion CFU daily. Is it too much ? Should I cut down the dosage ?

You might also see some benefit from fermenting your own water kefir too which is very cheap and easy. Amazon sell the grains. I believe it's full of goodness.

How does the fermented milk taste like ? Does it taste something like yoghurt ?

I tried the milk version once and yes it's a little like delicious tangy yogurt but, as I try to avoid dairy, I ferment the water version which is equally nice...a tiny bit like Belgian blond beer (or so I tell myself!)

Okay. I’ll try to buy and make some myself! If I’m already taking probiotic can I drink kefir as well ? Will it be too much ?

I change my probiotics when I need a new bottle, it means that you are benefitting from more strains that way. Don't forget that when it says 100 billion that is totting up the total amount of all the different strains in the supplement. I tend to go no higher than 50 billion in total.

Take some time to read up on probiotics, CFU, etc. Here's one article

Ignore the fact they they sell their own supplement, but you can see what different strains are good for

I have used Now Foods and Healthy Origins but I tend to have a good look round every time I need to restock.
