Since increasing T3 I am always humming some tune in my head.
I don't even have to hear the tune...a word can trigger it. It is raining here today and I am perpetually humming 'It Never Rains in Southern California', lol.
It isn't a problem...I kind of like it. But I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

I was exactly the same last night. Watched a programme and a child happened to sing 'Hello darkness my old friend' one of my fave Simon & Garfunkel songs. It hasn't left my head yet and I think I even dreamed about it. Thank goodness it wasn't the tellytubbies theme tune. π
When my head is buzzing - even if it's just a few lines from a song, it can get a little frustrating in the heat and when it's light outside at 4am. I found out last night that some soluble electrolyte powder (Potassium and Magnesium) does the trick - a very helpful discovery!!
I suppose we lose a lot more electrolytes in this weather especially if your cells are working more efficiently with the t3 - just drink more too or it can cause kidney problems. Coconut water (expensive) is also good apparently and full of electrolytes.
I usually have a song running through my mind - don't even notice it much of the time, like background music. Had that long before there was any question of thyroid problems!
Maybe it just means your meds are doing their job and your brain now has the energy to sing to you!
My brain has sung stuff in my head for as long as I can remember. Any conversation can spark off a song related to a single word in that convo! And I'm permanently pooped so I don't think with me it's to do with my thyroid hormones...
What I do find weird though is that much as I love music, I often can't bear the music being on. I literally can't listen to it and have to switch if off. I've wondered if that was anything to do with my thyroid.
Haven't discovered the off switch for the racket in my head though haha.
Once after I had a test where they injected dye into my spinal column, I could faintly hear what sounded like a radio station. That was completely different than these songs in the head. I checked everywhere in the house and there was no radio on. I even turned the radio on to see if I could match the station, but no luck. I think my dental fillings and the dye somehow turned into a receiver, lol. Okay, now you know I am crazy
OMG Kell-E that tops the lot! A human radio antenna.
One day it was a hymn, then switched to "We are the Diddy Men" (if you're old enough to remember Ken Dodd's children's show?) Gives a whole new meaning to the saying "From the sublime to the ridiculous"!
Uh-oh...I was laying the hammock and faintly from a neighbor's garage I heard, 'Oh, oh, oh it's magic, you know-oh-oh, never believe it's not so...' Here we go again, lol!
And even better, more of the lyrics are lazy day in bed, music in my head...
Yes! My family are from Liverpool, and my auntie insists Ken Dodd nicked the idea for the Diddy Men from some little people that used to live in Knotty Ash.
Since I started T3 I have had all sorts of songs running through my head. I find myself singing along to everything- out of tune and loudly. It's as if the T3 has turned on a switch- I appreciate everything such as nature & melodies/ lyrics so much more. My T3 is now about 65% through the range from a very pathetic 2% at one point.
I've always had songs in my head off and on, but it seems lately to have dramatically increased. I felt like you that T3 turned on a switch. But others have music on the brain even in the depths of hypothyrodism, so who knows?
'Music was my first love, and it will be my last...' I too have this wonderful ability to recall the soundtrack to my life by the mention of a single word and I wouldn't want to be without it! πΆπ΅πΆπ€
I guess some people are really annoyed by it. Maybe if it were just short irritating loops it might be a problem, but otherwise I'm with you...I enjoy it!
Okay, so the weird thing is after I listened to your clip and went outside, the song that started playing in my head was 'Across the Universe' by John Lennon.
Thanks for this post, i thought I was nuts because I get earworms. There is one I remember when I had the flu and stayed home from school and my mom let me listen to the radio (in the afternoon). There was one composer who wrote a symphony who's main theme rhymed with: "Little bird, in the tree tops". Anyone remember this? It was on the BBC in the afternoon a million years ago. It was very beautiful but I have never been able to track it down. It goes something like this: C'C'C, AAGC' (Where C' is top C). Any takers?
