First thing is, do you have any actual blood test results?
if not will need to get hold of copies. You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges
UK GP practices are supposed to offer online access for blood test results. Ring and ask if this is available and apply to do so if possible, if it is you may need enhanced access to see blood results.
In reality many GP surgeries do not have blood test results online yet
Alternatively ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up. They can no longer charge for printing out, (EU rules changed after May 25th 2018)
Can you add most recent results and ranges for TSH, FT3 and FT4, plus have you also had thyroid antibodies tested since TT just to check definitely now low
Also you need vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested. Add results and ranges if you have them
Hi slowdragon have picked up my blood test results going back to July 2017, all of which I requested as none were offered to me, my latest one is
Serum tsh 0.04 range (0.30-4.20mu/L
Serum free t4 20.2 range 12-22.00
Serum25 ho vit d3level 55 range >50.00
Why are you still on calcium tablets don't your parathyroid work anymore, we need more
information to reply including blood test results with the ranges.
Hi bunny Jean, I've no idea if parathyroid are working, I was put on alfacalcidol and left on them, I can't see any test results for them what should I be looking for? Have only seen endo twice since had total thyroidectomy may 2017
The way forward is to phone your surgeons secretary and find out if and where your parathyroids were re positioned. My surgeon told me about mine straight away, these are so important for you. Was your surgeon very experienced if so he would have re positioned them for you as a matter of course.
These should have started working usually after 3/4 weeks, sometimes longer.
You should not be left on alfacalcidol without the blood tests. I was phoned my the hospital after just a few weeks and told to stop taking them.
