Hashimotos

Morning all. I am newly diagnosed with Hashimotos. I take 125 mcg Levo, still have fatigue, muscle aches, eczema. Any idea when this will improve. I had my dose increased 3 weeks ago and I was diagnosed with hypothyroid in 2013 before the Hashimotos was found.

Thanks

Morning!

It can take up to 6 weeks before a dose increase is fully optimised and then bloods should be repeated .

For the experts here to help you can you post your latest results with Ranges. Wete you nutrients tested? Ferritin, folate, B12 and vitamin D.

Going gluten free has been a life changer for me. Are you gluten free?

There is so much information here and we've oearned the best way to get well is to educate yourself and fight for yourself with Dr's who generally arent well informed. Ultimately many have to treat themselves.

Thanks! I will post results now. Currently not gluten free as eating gluten for coeliac blood draw.

Morning Skye

SJ71 is right. It can take between 6-8 weeks for Levo dose increase to do it's thing. Most people feel better when TSH is around 1, even lower.

Keep increasing dose at 25mcg at 6-8 week intervals to alleviate symptoms.

Deficiencies in vitamins & minerals alone can wreak havoc, causing all sorts of problems, so do post results if you have any & members can help.

As you have Hashi's (as I myself have) are you taking selenium? If not, supplement with Selenium L-selenomethionine, this is the best form to take. Good brands are Jarrow, Thorne, Bio-Care, Pure Encapsulations, Better You, to name a few.

With Hashi's you'll need to look at healing your gut using a good probiotic/L-glutamine, often we Hashi's suffer with leaky gut & this affects absorption of vits, mins & thyroid hormones (T4 & T3). Check out the website:- chriskresser.com & amymyersmd.com about leaky gut & gluten.

You have come to the right place to get help & you will find through your own research, you will be more clued up than your GP, they know zilch about thyroid 🙂

Thanks! No I don't take selenium. I thought because it was tested and in range I didn't need it. It was low in range.

Your welcome. You may benefit from supplementing with it being low in range. Post all your results & other members will give you pointers 🙂
