Still under informed after 42 years.

Hi, I'm new here and have joined in the hope of getting some answers.

I was diagnosed with junior myxoedema at the age of 10, I am now 52. It developed completely out of the blue and I had it for about a year before it was finally discovered and diagnosed. That took a 3 month stay in hospital. I remember vaguely hearing secondhand that it was an autoimmune condition and there was speculation that it could have been triggered by a bout of glandular fever that I had around age 8.

That's the bare bones of my story, but I have so many unanswered questions that still confuse and perturb me to this day. But in order to stand a chance of anyone helping me with my questions I'm going to have to write a very long post, so before I do, my first question is - are you guys willing to read my very long post and apply any wisdom, insight or endocrine knowledge you may have, to helping me get the answers I have chased for 30+ years?

Not much point in me writing War & Peace if no-ones going to read it.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Might be worth putting the details on your profile rather than as a post which will then be available to everyone in future rather than trying to sift thru posts to find it, also available to view by sister healthunlocked forums if appropriate eg Pernicious anaemia Society, Fibromyalgia etc etc.

Thanks for the tip.

Judithdalston has made a good comment. If we put onto our Profiles our history etc. it cn be amended now and then, without you having to repeat many answers.

Members who don't want to ask to many questions are able to read about your background.

Just to save you some aggravation ...

Type your profile text into notepad or wordpad or some other word processing program and save it.

Then copy and paste the text you've written into your profile. Then save it.

I have made changes to my own profile text in the past then saved it - only to then discover that the Save has failed to work and all my changes have been lost. I don't know why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, so I always save my profile text outside of HU then apply it as often as necessary to get it to stick. I know that I'm not alone with this problem.

.

A second point... Remember that nobody on the forum can be assumed to have any medical training.

.

Welcome to the forum. :)
