First Medichecks test ordered

Well I’ve ordered my first test and am waiting for the container to take to my local clinic.

I was just wondering how people had got on with their dr looking at the results Did they pick up on your thyroid problems on the test?

My doctor acknowledged mine and put them on my record for endo to see.

Unfortunately at that time stupid enough to think Doctors know best ... and no dose change etc done...12 years later tackling it myself!

I have only this year let my GP see one set of results from Medichecks. I have been doing tests for the last 4 years though and they show that I don't convert T4 to T3 very well hence I am still symptomatic. Thanks to what I have learned from the many knowledgeable people on here I am now taking a small amount of T3 alongside my T4 and it has made a difference. Strangely enough within a few weeks of starting T3 the GP decided to send me to see the endo because they are very unhappy with my below range TSH. However they are not interested in my below halfway T4 and T3.

I only saw the registrar, who was a bit more open minded than I expected, but hope to see endo next time as I know he does prescribe T3 with T4. however CCG won't pay for T3 any more!! Pity there aren't any MP's who admit to being hypo as then we might get some action!!

Thanks for sharing. I’m hopeful something comes up on my medichecks tests as my TSH is in the normal range and my symptoms are just awful.

Well got my test kit to take to the clinic and have my appointment Friday morning.

Does anybody know if labs test bloods on Saturdays? I was just curious.

Hi I sent my test in on a Friday to Medicheck and had the results back Tuesday. The Lab is open on Saturday morning but I don’t think they test Saturdays. You may be lucky and get the results Monday but if not defo Tuesday. Hope that helps?

I had a doctors opinion and I did my test over the bank holiday weekend but still had my results mid day Tuesday. I think it’s a good idea to have the Doctors report after all it’s a second opinion from a Doctor of your choice?

When you post your results on the forum for members to comment, also include the doctor's comments. They tend to toe the same line as NHS doctors, and we have often seen them miss something very obvious and even say people are overmedicated (or often use "hyperthyroid") when their free Ts are well within range, they seem to be guided by the TSH result like our GPs.

Hopefully he gets the same Doctor as me, not sure if you remember SeaSideSusie but you were surprised by my comments which said I was under medicated. 😜

That would be good. Yes, it was very refreshing that a doctor actually said that a TSH in the upper part of the range meant that you were undermedicated. Perhaps he should be teaching all the GPs that think anywhere in range is fine

The one that did mine last week wasn't too bad either. I don't normally ask for comments but decided to test it out after seeing so many awful doctor comments on the forum. Mind you, I did fill in my information when logging that I had sent the sample off, where they ask for any information that may be helpful, and I said exactly what I take ie a combination of Levo and T3 and the doses so my comments were appropriate for that, and it was a very simple Thyroid Monitoring test so only TSH, FT4 and FT3.

I’m hoping so much that something shows up as my TSH was in normal range. I’ve been feeling like death for too long and wouldn’t know what do if these bloods came back normal

It’s a sad state of affairs when we are actually praying our results come back abnormal. I’d been going back and forth to the doctors for three years before they finally found a problem with my thyroid. I remember being happy they’d finally found something! My Doctor doesn’t see under active thyroid as such a big deal and dismisses, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, sweating, breathing difficulties, chest pain as having any connection to my thyroid even though all have improved since taking thyroxine! 🤒
