What’s better - medichecks or Genova?

I had a cortisol check last year but on another forum everyone said the results were rubbish 🙁

Testing for what?

If it's an adrenal test then you want cortisol and DHEA. Medichecks only do cortisol. Genova and Regenerus do cortisol plus DHEA.

Who did your cortisol test and why did the other forum say the results were rubbish?

I was on an adrenal forum and posted these results but I was told they didn’t mean anything without the range.. the range is quite clearly on them!

To my mind my cortisol was low-ish.

I’ve gone ahead and ordered a full thyroid panel anyway... think the forum was pants!

I’ve added the results to my post 🙂

If you have a look at a sample report from Genova here, you will see the normal pattern and the ideal place to be is in the green band and following the plotted curve (obviously, ignore the results shown)

gdx.net/uk/core-uk/sample-r...

So we need cortisol to be high, even at the very top of the green band, for sample one, and gradually fall throughout the day with the bedtime sample being very low. So

Sample 1 - very top of range

Sample 2 - 75% of range

Sample 3 - approx 50% of range

Sample 4 - very bottom of range

Unfortunately, Medichecks (and Blue Horizon) don't provide a graphic with their results so we can't immediately see if we follow the the normal curve.

Yours are all very low, unfortunately sample 4 is impossible to say because they don't actually give a result, just that it's <1.5. So if it was 1.4 that would be too high for the bedtime sample. If it was, say, 0.2 then that would be fine.

If you want to repeat the adrenal test, then I would suggest Regenerus or Genova, both about the same price.

How to order Regenerus test thyroiduk.org/tuk/testing/r...

They send results direct to you. £78.

How to order Genova test - Adrenal Stress Profile Test Code END01 thyroiduk.org/tuk/testing/g...

You have to use ThyroidUK as your "practioner" as they don't deal with the public. Results are sent to ThyroidUK who then email them to you. £82.

That’s great, thank you.

I don’t think I’m going to repeat it right now as I’m getting the full thyroid panel done and I want to concentrate on one thing at a time! (Not,like me!)

It adds weight though to my theory that my adrenals were pooped after a very emotional year and this in turn probably caused me to be here today.

I’ll contain on the supplements I’ve been taking and see where we go

Thanks for the help though 😉
