I am looking for more information about ‘myself’. So I have decided to have the above tests.
Naturally I want the best and most informative ones.
I see the results of the genetic one cannot be sent directly to me and Thyroid UK can provide an intermediary, who is a nutritionist. I can’t immediately see the connection but if anyone has done this can they let me know a bit about how this happens and perhaps which company I should apply to?

Good for you, I have found it useful to look into these things
It was the DIO2 test that was a nonsense to get hold of from Regenerus but they will send it to your GP... £92.20
I would actually skip that one and use Blue Horizon DNA Blue Thyroid which covers the whole loop, which is a bit more expensive but much more information £125.10 with TUK10 they email report direct to you
Not so much interest in this post unfortunately. One of the reasons I am sure, is exactly the same as mine. Oh God another ‘thing’ I have to do to get better. It’s certainly another thing I have pitted myself against. Almost now thinking whatever I have pitted myself against is a sign of doing something about it!!!
Need to ask a supplementary question if that’s ok? The timing of the cortisol saliva sampling does not look like they cover 3am. From what I have read, like me, this is a common time to wake and feel pretty bright eyed and bushy tailed. Forcing myself to stay in bed at that time has not improved my chances of either sleeping or waking at say 6-7 am, or indeed improving my chances for a good day. I am very groggy at that time, sleep or no sleep. Should I still go ahead with the test with this pattern of sleep? My cortisol appears to spike (wakening?) almost as if I am on a night shift?
I use a CPAP machine now (at last got the hang of it) but already, I have slipped back into the 3am slot!
I haven’t done a genetic test, but have done the Genova Diagnostics salivary adrenal profile with cortisol awakening response several times. I discovered that to do the test you actually have to be asleep in order to wake up! With poor sleep that can be a problem. I found I had to be patient and wait for a morning when I’d had some sleep and woke up at the right time to do the test. After a few bad nights I find I usually get a better night’s sleep. I also split my Levo dose, and take some when I wake up about 4 am, and usually that gets me back to sleep. I found the Genova test very helpful.
Thanks bluejourney that’s helpful. Like you, a few nights of very bad sleep then I will have a better night, so of course the idea is to test after one of those nights! See I appreciate that observation. It’s amazing one cannot always think for oneself!
Can I ask how was the test helpful? Have you been able to make any useful adjustments. Again please excuse my ignorance BUT so far people seem to be talking about revving up their cortisol - frankly I think mine would be better dampened! Or at least swapped around!
I hope you post your test on here. I look forward to seeing how your adrenals respond as a person with sleep apnea. Also I'm beyond thrilled that you've got cpap working for your favour.
