Can anyone recommend a good quality BCAA pls?

BCAAs are made from essential amino acids. This means your body needs them to function, but cannot produce them on its own.

Heard these can help especially when exercising so thought I’d get some if anyone can help

What sort of help are you wanting them to do for you while exercising? All they are are building blocks of protein, or partial components of a complete amino acid chain: leucine, valine and isoleucine. Complete amino acid chains are needed to build muscle, so depending upon your goals are more useful and effective. Complete protein chains are found in real foods. Chicken, fish, rice and beans together form a complete amino acid chain, etc. Do you eat whole foods?

It’s to help restore my muscles whilst exercising and help my energy levels. I’m on a low carb diet so no rice beans potatoes etc.

I’ve researched but want to make sure I get a good quality. Can you recommend one?

What kind of exercising are you wanting to use this for? I lift weights, used to teach fitness classes and did personal training.

I do weights somehow it’s the only exercise I can do and enjoy. Makes me feel normal that my body is totally wrecked. I haven’t any real stamina so struggle doing cardio but I do warm up on a bike and end with the treadmill which I’m getting better at.

Tried yoga love it but it doesn’t love me. The meditation is great but I’m ill for about 5 days after haven’t a clue why but find yoga so hard on my body.

Hi MissFG. I'm sorry, I thought that I had responded to you about BCAA's. By now have you found some to try? How is it going for you? I recommend branched chain amino acids that do not contain sucralose, stevia or any color additives. Sucralose can cause bladder irritability, disrupt digestion, disturb gut bacteria, decreases absorption of certain medications and can cause head aches. Not only that but it can also stimulate your appetite, increase body fat and make you gain weight. There is nothing good about it. Stevia is also bad because it can cause migraines, bloating, nausea, muscle pains and dizziness.

I once took some BCAA's that contained sucralose for 2 days. It caused bladder irritation, indigestion and gas. I switched over to plain, unflavored BCAA's and I didn't have those same problems. I've lifted weights for my entire life since I was a teen. Since I've had Hashi's, I get really bad pains after working out or after doing too much of any other strenuous activity. This posy-workout pain used to last for many days and used to leave me barely able to move. BCAA's got rid of all the pain that was high enough to make me nauseated and head-to-toe stiffness I used to have, both that previously lasted for multiple days.

One thing to be aware of when taking thyroid medication and BCAA's. It is said that some thyroid medications decrease who quickly the body can break down proteins. BCAA's are the amino acids, which are the building blocks to protein. It is also said that people with Hashi's or hypothyroidism have low stomach acid and have difficulty breaking down proteins. You may have read about supplements like digestive enzymes or betaine with pepsin. One enzyme that I really like and highly recommend is called Michael's Recovery Zymes (formerly called w-zymes xtra. the purple bottle is still available some places). If you don't have this brand in the UK, you could look up Michael's Recovery Zymes ingredients and probably find a comparable UK product. It's a proteolytic enzyme that can help protein digestion, help your immune system, reduce inflammation, speed up recover and healing, and It contains Pancreatin ((protease (breaks down protein), amylase (breaks down starch), lipase (breaks down fat)), papain (from papaya, helps digestion), bromelain (from pineapple, reduces inflammation), etc. If taken on an empty stomach, this supplement helps your muscles recover. If I'm sore and I take this on an empty stomach at bed time, it helps me to wake up the next day feeling like my muscles have recovered much better than without. If taken with food, or between meals, it helps to break down protein.

The brands of BCAA's in the UK might be different from the ones in the US. If you haven't found a good brand yet, if you can provide me with a link to a good supplement store that carries BCAA's in the UK, I can look at the brands and if I'm familiar with them, I can hopefully make some recommendations. Let me know! I'd be happy to help.
