Authorisation needed to dispense T3 - anyone heard of this?

Went to collect my T3 which my GP finally agreed to let me trial, only for the pharmacy to decline it saying they need authorisation from the health board. My GP is not in surgery this afternoon so I haven't been able to find out more and the other staff seem clueless.

I had really pinned my hopes on being able to at least trial it and am now worried that it might get blocked.

Surely if a GP prescribes something the pharmacy should be able to dispense - has anyone else encountered this issue?

Have you tried a different pharmacy?

I smell BS and obstructive pharmacists.

Go to another pharmacy.

The problem is my GP sent the prescription straight to the pharmacy who said they have sent it back to the surgery. Doctor wasn't working this afternoon when I went back. Will chase tomorrow. Feel like I'm being given the runaround.

Go to the surgery and ask receptionist to re-print it now as a hard copy, get her to sign it off by any other GP if yours is unavailable. Then take it to another pharmacy.

Too late will have to wait to hear back from GP tomorrow now but thanks for the suggestion 😊

Just a thought, but try to find a small independent pharmacy. They’re more helpful than the large chains.
