I’m on 3 caps of ADRENAVIVE...

I FOLLOW DR RINDS METHOD USING TRMOERATURE GRAPH DAILY TO DETERMINE STATE OF ADRENALS AND THYROID.

IVE BEEN FEELING INCREASINGLY UNWELL...AND THEREFORE DROPPED TO 2 from 2,5.GRAINS OF W P THYROID.

FEELING DEDINITELY LITTLE BETTER SINCE DOING SO...BUT SLEEP IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL.

BEEN THINKING MORE AND MORE OF PREGNENELONE AND DHEA..HEARD GOOD REPORTS..BUT DONT KNOW NOW TO DO IT WITH WHAT I CURRENTLY DO..

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE WAY FORWARD HERE...I HAVE SOME UNUSED DHEA..TEN MG......CAN I TAKE While still on CORTEX..?

Or shall I BUY PREGENENELONE....BETTER, I GATHER...

BUT WHAT Form ..TABLETS OR CREAM....Which brand...what dose ?

And should I then cut down or cut out the cortex....HELP !

I would be incredibly grateful for some thoughts or advice here...

Many thanks to anyone who can.

Jolly, I recently decided on using DHEA. I was worried about it for quite a long time and thought pregnenalone would be safer but as long as you are taking adrenal support I think you can also use DHEA.

Here are some articles regarding it. Suzy Cohen is a pharmacist if you've never heard of her.

Well thanks Heloise....kind of you to reply and I shall look at this with interest after breakfast !

1 But how are you getting on with it..?

2 What dose Did you Start with ?

3 How long have you been on it ?

4 When did you first notice any difference...

5 was it a good difference ?

6 Are you on Adrenavive ? Or similar ?

7 Are you on NDT also ?

Heloise, I know how time consuming a fully worded reply may be for you...

So if you would like to reply in bullet points..numbering your answers as I have done...that’s fine by me...hope you don’t mind answering these for me..but it would help me to get a full picture..your experience may be of help to me.

Many thanks once again...

Best wishes,

JP

I've been looking at past replies to your posts and do realize it can be a real dilemma and I'm sorry to read that Venus had difficulties with it. Maybe she explained in a PM but I would not take anything that made me feel awful. The object is to get your body to produce what it needs. Of course your thyroid can no longer do that so we have to supplement but it seems the adrenal gland CAN after some support. (Cushings, etc. may not) I don't do anything on a continuous basis though. It's impossible to know how things are going to affect you...some say DHEA changed their life. You are at a good level of thyroid hormone. I also took two grain of Naturethroid although I've taken all sorts of T4, T3 and NDT over the years. Lately it's been one grain ndt and 25 mcgs of T3. It is hard on your adrenals if you thyroid is too low OR too high. I think that's why your dose lowering was helpful. I take Thorne Adrenal Cortex and would only take DHEA with it. Why not try taking them both and see what happens. You could cut your 10 mg DHEA in half at first. You might get a bit dizzy or a short headache at first. (At least you'll know it's working).

I noticed that one poster mentioned PUFAs and unsaturated fats ARE very harmful. I like using avocado oil for cooking and salads.

Dear Heloise,

Thanks so much for your full reply to me...it’s very interesting.

It’s hard to understand how...when on 2.5 grains of NDT...and feeling I could till do with more..

But I felt increasingly unwell..and the extreme of that has indeed lifted since I went back down to two .but this is strange and difficult to grapple with.

I want to say several things to you at once !...so ..

It’s interesting that you don’t do one thing all the time...although that is tiring ...quite insecure not knowing what’s next !

I so long to find A SOLUTION ! And stick with it and that’s it ...I’m well !! Probably unrealistic.

You tell me what you are currently doing ..

Do you so that off your own back..or do you see a doctor or therapist ?

Noting what you say to me about my cutting my dose down ..do you think it is indeed indicative tha I’m on the right dose...and does temperature not come into it ..perhaps ?

Ok..

Perhaps I’ll embark on the DHEA I have...and will indeed cut in half as I’m very sensitive to most everything. When do you take it...am ?

Thanks Heloise..all the best to you.

No, I don't find my doctor helpful but she is not a specialist. The only doctor I would consider is a functional doctor and I'm in the U.S. and there is no one close to where I live. Some of those are not that knowledgeable about hormones either. I watch John Bergman's videos on you tube and he is wonderful. You should watch his video on Healing the thyroid and adrenals. I've posted it many times. I DO think you can heal your adrenals if you stop the things that cause stress. This can be food like gluten, chemicals and drugs and emotional stress. The cortex is nerve tissue.

You are only 60? I think you can definitely improve due to your youth, haha. DHEA is called the youth hormone. I tried hydrocortisone once and that is rather controversial I think and I didn't even finish as I had no reaction to it. It would be good to have decent testing. This is just as bad as the NHS when your insurance won't cover testing and my state doesn't allow private testing. I should move to the UK. But since we can obtain hormones and supplements over the counter as they say, at least we can try them. I also find progesterone helpful. This is another aspect because your adrenals will use more progesterone at times and you may fall short in that as well. Estrogen dominance may be another reason you feel the need to increase your NDT.

I'll post this 5-min. video by David Clark. You may want to listen to the others as he describes 20 Reasons for Low Thyroid. youtube.com/watch?v=U15Pcov...

Hi Heloise..

Thanks for another full reply !

It’d be lovely to chat instead...there’s so much to say !

Well..I’m 68 actually,..still young enough to improve ?

How old are you , may I politely ask ?

Please tell me if you take pregnenelone also ...

Also....when in the day should I take the DHEA,...I’d like to start.

Must go...as granddaughter needs my attention !

Thanks,

Sincerely..

JP

I think sharing ideas is a good thing. I have learned so much from others but you have to determine what might be best for you. I'll only say I'm older than you are but I'm doing well; I can still golf and push my cart for nine holes. I have prenenolone in cream form but decided if the progesterone was the problem (which I think it was) I would just use that.

Yes, you can get better. Four years ago I collapsed on the golf course when my TSH rose to 3.0 and whatever else that causes. I was trying to raise my NDT but my adrenals wouldn't allow it. Taking T3 for a while seemed to calm my adrenals somewhat and then I could get to two grains of NDT. Now I'm in good shape. I will finish my DHEA with Cortex and then pause. Estrogen is such a problem because it is in pesticides and foods which seems to be an ongoing problem. I've posted information about enzymes. Lack of enzymes is a real challenge when you get to our age. I feel this has been a huge benefit in the last year or two as well. Look into proteolytic enzymes later.

A functional med practitioner claimed I had "stage 3 adrenal fatigue" and, as treatment, prescribed bio-identical pregnenolone (36 drops daily) and DHEA (9 drops daily), taken sublingually. I took them from Jan 2017 until a few days ago. I retested all of my hormones after 5 months on the pregnenolone and DHEA and my hormone levels had plummeted. I had such faith in the doc, I continued taking the supplemental hormones but my health deteriorated severely during that time. I will never know for sure if the decline in my health was because of the supplemental hormones but since stopping them I have felt better. From what I've heard (from forum members), ACE is more commonly used and it seems like most people do well on it. Hope this helps X

Hi Venus

Many thanks for your reply...it’s interesting ! It’s made me extra cautious.

Would you please share with me the private doc whom you felt led you astray...

Thanks
