Good morning,
I have an under active thyroid and take levothyroxine 150mg a day. On a recent health check I was told I am also pre-diabetic. Can anyone tell me if this is connected?
Many thanks.

Associated probably,I became diabetic a year after being hypothyroid.
After three months of reduced carbs and more fat I was no longer diabetic.
When we have one autoimmune disease we are apt to develop more. I see that Treepie has given a positive statement
Yes, sorry to say but both thyroxine and liothyronine increase the likelihood of Type 2 diabetes ( view your patient information leaflets ) and the weight gain caused by hypothyroidism doesn't help either. I keep my pre-diabetes hovering on the cusp by exercising one hour after eating and cutting out all biccies and cakes. I do miss bananas though.
Thank you for your help.
It’s important to keep your BS low- by using a blood sugar monitor and testing I was able to find out which foods reacted and how to keep BS low- no sugar, wheat, - eat good protein (ie fish) yam (for starch) lots of veggies... no sugar /starch at all...it’s possible to keep BS low -
