Pregnant after miscarriage. Need help with my TSH level please

Hello all

My husband and I tried to conceive for two years and a half, eventually we discovered that my high TSH level was most likely the reason behind my infertility. Straight after starting Levothyroxine I fell pregnant, but the story doesn't have a happy ending I am afraid. I bled right from day one and miscarried on 11th Feb 2018.

In the previous post, I was worried about my TSH level while pregnant (2.5 then 3.4) whilst on 50 mg Levo. I couldn't find an answer whether it was because of the high TSH level and that the GP didn't raise the Levo dose, despite me begging her to do so. She did raise it eventually to 75 mg but the baby was already gone..

To my surprise, I am pregnant again! (straight after MC without AF in between). I am happy but anxious. I really want to manage the TSH level and to keep it in the right range not to loos my baby again.

The surprising new blood result came back as follows: TSH 0.16 / FT4 27.3 / T3 6

The GP said that I am probably over-treated, to carry on taking 75 mcg and re-test again in 4 weeks.

After what happened I am finding it difficult to trust my GP, I would like to know what you think. Should I carry on 75 mg or is it too high considering the latest results?

Do you know any endo that might help me? I live in Northampton - UK so any one in Midlands I would be happy to travel to.

I truly appreciate your help. Thank you.

Helen xx

Hopefully by reading previous similar discussions in the link above - you can be reassured that your levels are good. Over 2000 posts :-)

I have also read that you need GOOD levels of VitD and B12 for the baby and its future health as well as your own ....

Hope all goes well ....

Most multivitamins contain insufficient of anything for someone with thyroid problems.I suggest that you ask @Seaside Susie for advice.

I'm really not a fan of multi-vits - which is what pregnacare is, basically. As you are hypo, you could have real deficiencies of some nutrients, so for the sake of you, yourself, and your baby, you really ought to get tested for the vitamins Marz suggested, plus folate and ferritin. You might need more of something than is contained in pregnecare.

I would ask your GP for an earlier than usual booking in at the hospital so they can keep an eye on you after past experience. Things look good but I think it would give you peace of mind.
