I'm really suffering at the moment with constant Neck, shoulder and collarbone pain and general aches all over upper part of body. Just wondered if anyone with hypothyroidism has had similar problems.

I 've had hypothyroidism since I was 8 and am on 150 of levothyroxine. I'm now 44

Hello sparkle face. This seems exactly what I have. I was diagnosed with Hashi’s 14 months ago. Some of my symptoms have subsided since adding T3 to my T4 treatment but these aches and pains in upper body remain. My Endo suggests a Reumatologist appointment despite my markers for Reumatoid Arthritis being within the normal range. Apparently these markers are not always accurate or sensitive enough. I hope this helps.

I’m thinking it is connected to the build up of antibodies related to Hashi’s. I feel like I’ve done a hard session at the gym weight lifting sometimes, shoulders and neck ache badly when I have a flare. Stress seems to bring on with me.

Yes this is just how I feel. I am worse in the morning. Getting out of bed I feel like a bus has driven over the top half of my body. Stress would cause tensing of the muscles so your conclusion would figure.

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies. Plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12.

Essential to test thyroid antibodies, FT3 and FT4 plus vitamins

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's
