Great to be here, was hoping that anyone might have an answer for what I have injured? Pain in upper left arm in the back very sore to touch, Can not hold myself up, push or pull with this arm now. As far as mobility that is not affected.

Nessybliss74,

If you're in the UK you should call 111 for advice or go to A&E.

You might have trapped a nerve in your neck . I know from experience of this .

Hi I injured my arm and had a problem for over a year with it. I then found out I had severe vitamin D deficiency. Once that was treated may arm started to improve, and after six months I think it is cured. Worth checking your vitamin levels

Sorry my reply is late, all answers very relevant but go to A&E just to be on the safe side.

Did you fall/trip? Could it be rotator cuff?

Salways get medical advice first to rule anything out. I personally have same, mine is partly rotator cuff, which triggers pain in upper arm, back and neck. I am working on the trigger points, and deltoid tuberosity, I have found this helps release some of the stiffness aching and associated pain.as I said get medical advice first to rule anything else out first.

The shoulder is a complicated joint, have you lifted something awkwardly? I get this from time to time and find a massage is very helpful. It would be best to see a doctor first though, you might have torn a muscle or ligament?

Could be frozen shoulder related, it is common in hypothyroidism. See a doc to find out what it could be tho before jumping to conclusions that may not be correct. I had frozen shoulder and could not lift my arm properly and affecting its range of movement, it was very painful. I had physio and swam lots, it eventually resolved. My hypothyroidism has not been diagnosed at this point but I had many symptoms even back then and was probably vitamin and mineral deficient. A hypo sister has had it too. If doctor can not diagnose it I would see an osteopath who are very expert on disorders of joints/skeleton etc unfortunately they are not on NHS so you would have to pay, worth it where their knowledge fills gaps in NHS care.

Hope you get to the bottom of it and you get it sorted promptly ☘️🍀☘️

Hi NessyBliss. I get all sorts of weird pains since I became a Hypo. I've stopped worrying to much about it . Even the the chest pain is just the intercostal muscle pain. Most of it gets better by doing (light) weight training daily for 10-20 minutes. If you don't have hand weights etc you can just do a few pushups and squats etc. Good luck

I am going to disagree with your comment about the chest pain. Your solution may have worked for you, but it isn't universal.

I got chest pain severely, and it turned out to be caused, firstly, by dreadfully low iron, and secondly by low T3. It took a while but once I started fixing both these problems the pain started going away.

Hi nessy, muscles are deeply involved with hypothyroidism and possibly deficiencies due to low stomach acid has something to do with it as well. Muscles and pinched nerves cause many symptoms. Magnesium is helpful and you can take large doses for a while, your adrenals can really use it.

Hi nessybliss74,

As its your left arm, and without knowing any history, please see your GP or go to A&E to rule things out asap.

Every best wish, G.

I would guess frozen shoulder. Please go to an orthopedic specialist to find out.

I had frozen shoulder (left) and my symtoms were more or less identical to yours. It was particularly bad at night, impossible to lie on left side and hanging arm over edge of bed trying to get relief!

I had chronic shoulder/upper arm pain my Dr misdiagnosed a bruised muscle and told me to keep it still till pain went. It escalated so fast I couldnt move the shoulder or arm just my wrist. Of course it was a frozen shoulder took 6 months if physio to sort it. I still get signs it wants to come back so I do the exercises daily. When I went for scan 2nd question they asked me 'are you hypothyroid' apparently most hypos will get it groan x hope you get it sorted x
