Anxiety and change in medication.

Hi I've had an under active thyroid for about 15 years now and have always been on 150mcg, since the beginning of Jan I've been exercising 3 times a week at the gym and changing my my diet for a healthy lifestyle and weight loss. However' since doing this I had been experiencing pre faint symptoms and low heart rate which entail took me to go have my thyroid levels checked.

Well as of Monday this week I was told that I'm now having to much levothyroxine as my levels have changed and I need to reduce my medication...so with that the doctor said reduce to 100mcg and ever since I feel worse than ever with bad dizzy spells and awful anxiety and palpations does anyone know if this is normal and if so how long does it last? Any information would be grateful. Above is what they tested me for and my results on tsh was 0.4 I think. I can't find my results but trying to remember.

Can you add actual results. If only tested a TSH or TSH and FT4 is not enough to correctly assess

For full Thyroid evaluation TSH, FT4, TT4, FT3 plus TPO and TG thyroid antibodies. Plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12.

Essential to test thyroid antibodies, FT4 and FT3 plus vitamins

Private tests are available and very many in here forced to do this

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.

All thyroid tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting and don't take Levo in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take straight after. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, GP will be unaware)

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamin levels are extremely common with Hashimoto's and then low TSH can be problem

Anxiety and palpitations can be due to being under medicated. Medics think it's a symptom only of being over treated.

Could you be progressing too fast with your exercise work outs? May be you are simply over doing it for the shape you're currently in. If you are in a class try dropping down a work out level & seeing if that helps. What type of exercises are you doing? I'm no doctor but I would have referred you to a Physical Therapist.

I do bursts on the treadmill for fat burn so I run really fast for a minute then walk 2 minutes and do this for about 35 to 40 mins and I push weights doing legs one session and arms the next session and generally spend about an hour and half to 2 hours there 3 times a week and I do yoga 5 times a week.

I have been experiencing the same problem first off I had one thyroid specialist that I don't have anymore that wouldn't listen I had been on 75 mg of levothyroxin she put me on 88 I told her I was having heart palpitations in my hair was falling out more she was telling me it's not the medication and told me to go to a heart specialist I went to a heart specialist they checked my heart I'm sad that I was fine well I took matters into my own hands since I am borderline I went off my medication had all kinds of side effects of the medication teeth clenching was one of them fat went away once I was over that withdrawal symptom I felt great felt better off to medication than ion my heart palpitations went away and my hair stop falling out well I wanted to see how my TSH was doing and other things she checked it and wanted to put me on medication again it was at a 3. Something that was my TSH she did check my T3 and T4 and said that was normal I told her I don't know what I want to do yet she said I can wait until my TSH gets to 10 okay another month goes by she checks my TSH and T4 again this time it's 4.26 she told me to take my medication this time so I've been on this medication for 28 days the medication is called triosint 25mg now I'm experiencing her problems again palpitations and my hair is starting to fall out again I'm going in tomorrow to get my TSH and other things checked I called her up to tell her about my symptoms she said there's no way you can be hyper but knowing how sensitive my body is I think I may be maybe I'm just not meant to take thyroid medication in my body works better at a higher TSH she did tell me that the other thyroid specialist had me on too high of a dose she thought that was why I was having heart palpitations we'll see how this goes it's kind of strange I have this cough when my heart messes up I don't think any Dr really knows what they're doing at least around here my regular doctor says I'm in range and that my thyroid is producing

I am not experienced in these matters but I think you should have your vitamin D, ferritin, and B12 tested. They need to be OPTIMAL, NOT IN RANGE. post your blood test results as a main question. Some of the more knowledgeable people on this site will interpret them for you. They will tell you what optimal levels they should be and how to supplement.

Could a low heart rate point to you needing more medication, not less, especially as you are doing more exercise? Cd you post your blood test results.

I'm thinking that thiszrxercise regime is depleting your FT3 levels too much so I think you need to check all your levels but first ease off the exercise. You could have a conversation problem so that your FT4 could be high but your FT3 much lower. The way to address this is to get the vitaminsxect recommended and get them optimal. It works slowly so took me 5 months to get mine started but much more stable now. So would recommend just doing gentle exercise till you get this sorted and get the full testing done privately. Even if you doctor sends you for one labs often refuse to do it. This forum reccomends Medichecks and Blue Horizon. They both have offers from time to time and I understand you can also have the Thyroid panel to include the vitamins etc. Then post all your results and rangesfor comments.

Okay thanks for that just find it frustrating when I've been doing so well with getting fit and healthy again and then this happens....so annoying.

I've managed to slowly lose Weight a lb at a time each week only to discover that since Tuesday I've lost 3lbs and I only managed exercising twice this week. So basically in 3/4 days with less exercise I've suddenly dropped that much weight that I think is weird?!
