Active thyroid hormone?

Hi I always believed T3 was the active important hormone. My doctor says it’s T4. Who is right please? I actually got him to prescribe 5 mcg. Of liothorine T3 when my numbers weren’t optimal. I feel much better but if it wasn’t for a post I found on this site it never would have happened. I live in Long Island New York. Unfortunately doctors here think the same as in UK. it’s only T-SHIRT that matters. I found an actual MD near me that takes a more functional attitude towards medicine. She must be good because to get an appointment takes a while. Can’t wait to see her

T3 is the active thyroid hormone. Your doctor is wrong.

Some on this forum take a weeks T4 in one go so they would be in big trouble if it was the active one!

You are. Your doctor needs to go back to uni. He probably had a hangover when they did the endocrine system.
