Hi there;

I’m lookin for a different way to treat my thyroid condition. My symptoms fluctuate. I want to feel alive more then zombie like. I want to have energy instead of convincing myself moving is a good idea. I was lookin into NDT. I live in Canada, so its hard to find. Any ideas on how I obtain this medication?

There is one non-prescription NDT and it was made particularly non-prescriptive by a doctor/scientist who was also an Adviser to ThyroidU before his untimely death.

Other members will send you a private message if they have knowledge as no information is allowed on the open forum of where to source any prescription meds.

His widow is now dealing with Thyrogold and it is from grass fed cows. At the top of the page you will find three chapters from a Book he published.

Also they come in capsules, so you can break apart and remove some and then put capsule together again.

My symptoms fluctuate

Do you have autoimmune thyroiditis aka Hashimoto's - confirmed by high TPO and/or TG antibodies?

ya... my doctors have only ever referred to my condition as hypothyroidism. I have just recently read about Hashimoto’s condition and am still researching that in that area. I have many symptoms that I am just now finding out are connected to hypothyroidism. This is very frustrating because I have been goin to the Doctor way more then I would ever like to have to go and for them to keep telling me my test results are normal, so in turn telling me its all in my head(At least that is how this game has made me feel). I am so happy I didn’t just give up and accept there results as the definitive. It has been an up hill battle. Doctors need to learn way more about the Thyroid!! I now have hope that I can feel much closer to my old normal self again. I get to kick the Zombie to the curb!!

Grafkimber,

Erfa is Canadian NDT. Your doctor can prescribe it.

If you post your recent thyroid results and ranges we can advise whether you are optimally dosed on Levothyroxine.

I find that very funny you say this because she is researching it. At least she is researching and not just telling me it is what it is. Thank you I will look up Erfa. Thank you. I am so glad I found this site. I have hope now that this Zombie state of which I am so constantly in will soon be no more!!

thank you

Grafkimber,

Depending on how much Levothyroxine you are taking, you may need to titrate Levothyroxine and NDT.

My Doctor doesn’t know how to prescribe it. She is looking into it.

Grafkimber,

60 or 65mg Erfa is equivalent to 60 or 65mcg Levothyroxine.

If you have Hashimoto's then look at strictly gluten free diet

Also essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 too

These are often far too low and need supplementing

Thats me. For the longest time I kept getting told my fibre levels weren’t high enough. I was having massive digestive issues. I now know Gluten and Fructose aren’t my friend. Now I find it kinda funny. No Doctor has ever mentioned Hashimoto’s to me. They have mentioned Fructose intolerance. I have figured out b12 and iron, Magnesium. I find the Doctors here very reluctant to test your blood to see your mineral levels. I have to push to get them to listen to me. That I find a little frustrating.

Thank you for you assistance.
