Welcome to our forum. First you must get a Full blood test for thyroid hormones. Request your doctor to check TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. If you are in the UK the GP may only do the basic TSH and T4 but to get a bigger picture you need the rest. You can get private ones and we have two recommended labs.

Doctor should also test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate as we can have deficiences.

The test has to be at the earlies possible, fasting and if you were taking thyroid hormones you'd allow 24 hours gap between last dose and test and take it afterwards. Levothyroxine has to be taken first thing on an empty stomach and wait 1 hour before eating.

Get a print-out of your results and post, with the ranges (ranges are in brackets after the results) so that members can respond.

Thank you very much Shaws .I did the thyroid test already. T4 is 13.4 with range of (4.4-11.6). T3 is 0.9 with range of ( 0.49-2.02) . TSH is 5.0 with range of ( 0.4- 7.0 ) .

Did you have your blood test as early as possible, fasting?.

Your T4 is over-range and T3 (being the only active thyroid hormone required in our T3 receptor cells is low in range (T4 being an inactive hormone and has to convert to T3). I think you may be a poor converter of T4 into T3.

In other countries people are diagnosed if TSH is above 3+.

In the UK it is 10. Your T3 is low and it is T3 which drives our whole metabolism from head to toe.

I am not medically qualified and others will also respond.

The most informative tests are Free T3 and Free T3.

Your doctor should also test for thyroid antibodies, and the following is about high blood pressure.

I have just looked up Cellgevity and it is has good reviews.

Your TSH should be around 1 not 5 so you need more levo.

(I am not medically qualified).

Many doctors believe that when the TSH is somewhere in the range that we are on sufficient dose, so we have to know more than them otherwise we will always be symptomatic.
