Murrayi,

Have you had thyroid levels retested recently? Results in your first post 4 months ago didn't indicate you needed Levothyroxine or T3.

Hello Clutter,

Thank you so much for responding. No, but I am about to go for re test. Meanwhile as things have gotten worst since my first post( weight gain, toenails dropping off, finger nails in pieces, hair thinning more, pains in kegs and arms on waking, along with completely numb hands, v tired falling asleep at work, feeling of being breathy, shallow breathing; but not breathless and generally scrambled/fuzzy and v bad 'IBS' like symptoms returned)

when I get results from private test will see if there's been any movement on things.

Asking for info re LT3 availability on line as part of my forward planning.

Any other suggestion very very welcome

Thank you again

Irene

Murrayi,

It's really better to wait until you have your blood test results to see what's what. If TSH is over range your GP should prescribe Levothyroxine. If TSH is not abnormal and you wish to trial thyroid medication it really would be easier to start with Levothyroxine rather than T3.

Have you started to address the Hashi's by adopting a strict gluten free diet and supplementing with selenium, as advised in your previous thread?

Hashi's often causes gut/absorption problems and as a result nutrient levels are often low or deficient. You need to see if yours are optimal or whether you need to supplement. You should test Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin.

Hello Seaside Susie, thank you so much for responding to my post. its amazing the support on this forum. I have followed the advice from a previous post and have become 100% gluten free and taken selenium every single day, from that day. I since have had blood test at GP for B12, Vit D, calcium and the usual iron. Vit D was low all others ok. Always highly aware of vit B12 as pernicious anemia rife in family. GP gave me high dose of Vit D for a week and the for three days for rest of month one a week.

So the reason I'm enquiring re LT3 is things are getting worse. more weight gain, toe nails falling off, finger nails in pieces. IBS like symptoms bad. pain in arms and legs (as if running down my marrow) in morning on waking bad. hands completely numb on waking. Hair thinning by week. very tired falling asleep in afternoon..even when I am meant to be working. In general I feel scrambled..fuzzy, finding it hard to be part of group conversations. colleagues ask if I have a touch of asthma a my breathing is breathy and shallow ( but not breathless).

off to GP on Thursday. I don't hold out much hope but with see if they will send me to endocrinologist. Meanwhile getting another medicheck blood test to see if things show up there

Any additional advice would be very very welcome

Cheers Irene
