Would much appreciate any information on how to obtain or get it prescribed. Did an endocrinologist need to approve it, or is it like for like price wise with tablets usually prescribed? I do not have an endocrinologist.

obtaining glenmark levothyroxine

Glenmark is just a brand of levo. It doesn't need the approval of an endocrinologist. You could ask your chemist if it is a brand they can supply and then ask the GP if they would specify it on your prescription.

Asked gp today about it and I need an appointment with the surgery pharmacist to ask about it, and I think she only works a half day per week, and gp has no idea when she works, and she will get reception to phone me to make an appointment , and so on and so forth..... One brick wall after another. The rest of the conversation with the gp , I am absolutely incredulous. She had asked advice from an endocrinologist and was told I should stop thyroxine and see what happens and get my bloods checked in 3 months!!!! I'm only on a dose of 25 and if allowed to keep it, don't foresee an increase in dose.
Just read your 1st post and now fully understand your need for glenmark.Gosh you will have to fight your corner to get what you need. And yet it should be easy if doctors listened and looked at all aspects of a patient.
I had hoped she had asked for special funding for tirosint. Think in Scotland seems to be a PACS (tier2) application. Asked g.p. if she had done one for tirosint and she doesn't know what that is. Nothing done whatsoever! Suppose her excuse would be endo says stop thyroxine and see what happens. Missed one tablet and got left sided swelling in neck with pressure, left neck and shoulder sprian/pulled muscle type thing out of nowhere for two mornings. Started thyoxine and problem disappeared. Would you agree I have a thyroid problem?
I believe this is now available in the UK? When I wanted Aristo as its lactose free, I called the company that manufactured it and got the Pip code from them. I then went to chemists gave them the pip code to see if they can order it from their supplier. I also got it put on my prescription to say Aristo lactose free only. Smaller independent pharmacies are your best bet. Good luck.
My 25mg the other week was glenmark. My prescription just says not Teva. it was usually Wockhardt or Mercury Pharma
Excellent, must be similar price then. Was it an independent chemist or Boots or LLoyds? What part of the country are you in , very roughly? Sounds hopeful! Many thanks.
