Iodine can also destroy the thyroid, it used to be used to treat hypERthyroidism. If you have Hashimoto's it can make things worse.

Before considering taking iodine you should test, if found to be deficient then supplementation should be done under the supervision of an experienced practioner.

If you decide to try it you need to work with a practitioner who is experienced with iodine. Yes, some people are deficient in it, but probably not many.

iodine will be useful if the thyroid problems are due to iodine deficiency - if not then it is best avoided as high iodine levels have a strong correlation with the development of auto-immune thyroid conditions.

Yes, great success. You don't want to be iodine deficient so it's a good idea to supplement until you reach sufficiency and then you might only need what you get through diet and thyroid replacement. A bit like taking loading doses of vitamin D and then reducing to a maintenance dose.

You need to follow a good protocol and there's lots of information here:

If I'm honest I would like to be tested for a deficiency in iodine first. Does anyone recommend a test? I doubt my gp would test for this 🙄

Iodine is what the takes/uses to function, the Iodine Is converted by the thyroid in thyroid hormones. Since mass agricultural farming using pesticides, hormones, and artificial fertilisers, along with no crop rotation therefore allowing soils to retain or repaduce much needed nutrients necessary for adequate vitamin and even more devastating minerals to be found in in our diets. Most people will find themselves at least mineral deficient, Iodine is also important in prevention of cancers, and problems such as PCOD, it is also massively important to the immune system as well as the endocrine system and our bodies as a whole, the best way of supplementing this essential mineral is with nascent Iodine taken upon waking...PS without adequate Iodine intake the Thyroid can not function properly.

There's quite a few people in my close family who can't handle stress and I'm sure it comes down to either thyroid problems or adrenal problems. It's like our bodies produce too much adrenaline when something stresses us out 😵
