Iodine: has anyone tried applying iodine... - Thyroid UK
Iodine
You need to be careful with iodine and only supplement if found to be deficient. Have you had an iodine test to see whether you have a deficiency?
There doesn't seem to be any information in your profile. Are you hypothyroid? Do you have Hashimoto's? If you have Hashimoto's then supplementing with iodine can increase autoimmune attacks - see chriskresser.com/iodine-for...
hi thanks for replying I take 150mg thyroxine plus several vitamins. last week I had a catarach removed from my eye the surgeon dosed my eye with iodine and I have felt really good since. I will get a test from the doctors if they will thankyou once again
Ok tank u very much
Thanks a lot this information is good I just know when the doctors put iodine in my eye after operation I felt good for ages
Because the extra iodine stimulated your thyroid gland. But, it can't last. Stimulating a sick gland long-term just makes it burn out faster.
Besides, on 150 mcg t4, you are getting quite a bit of extra iodine. Plus the iodine from your food. More that that would be a bad idea, and could cause further problems.
Thankyou so much for your reply very helpful
