I have these results from my docs. No further action....but all my symptoms are back. Do I ask for a re-test / 2nd opinion or is something else wrong?!
Thyroid levels: I have these results from my docs... - Thyroid UK
Thyroid levels
On the face of it those results look very good. Tsh is low in range and t4 is high in range which is what we aim for. You say your symptoms are back. Do you have a history of thyroid problems?
Your TSH and FT4 are actually good. The trouble is that's not the whole picture. You really need FT3 testing at the same time as FT4. FT3 is the most important test because it tells you whether you are converting T4 to T3. If you are still symptomatic it's quite likely that your FT3 is low whereas it should be in balance with FT4 in the upper part of it's range.
It's very unlikely you'll get FT3 done through your GP, even if he requests it the lab makes the decision and with your TSH and FT4 there is nothing that would persuade them to test FT3. You may want to get that done privately.
Have you had thyroid antibodies tested?
Have you had vitamins and minerals tested? - Vit D, B12, Folate, Ferritin?
To get a full picture you need all those testing too. If you can't get them done through your GP, again you can do it privately with Medichecks or Blue Horizon.
