NDT and Blood Tests

I'm currently on 1.5 grains NDT. I take 1 grain at bedtime and the .5 when I get up. I'm due blood tests mid Feb, do I take my bedtime dose and hold off on my morning dose until after blood test? Also should I be fasting? I have a 2.5 hour drive to my private GP and I'm not sure I could fast that long! Thanks. Anna.

Is blood test early morning, it's when TSH is highest... Well actually its highest in the very early hours but not many places open then 🤣

When on NDT or t3 do not take any for 8-12 hours before test. Don't leave longer than 12 hours or your results will show lower ft3 than actual. Hmmm it really should be fasting, water only.

Annabhaird,

You can take your bedtime dose but take the morning dose after the blood test. TSH may be a little lower than if you fasted because it drops after eating and drinking.
