Can apathy be caused by central hypothyroidism? Is there anything to treat it specifically, if levothyroxine is not helping?
Thank you for your help with my question.

Thank you for your help with my question.
Apathy can be caused by anything that causes low T3.
What exactly do you mean by 'levo not working'? Do you mean you can't convert it? Or are you just not taking enough? Do you have any lab results you can post?
Nothing will work if you don't take enough of it. But, no, there's nothing you can take specifically you can take for apathy. You just need to have all your hormones and all your nutrients optimised. Have you had your vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested?
I would guess you aren't on the correct dose of levothyroxine and that you can tick off more than a couple of symptoms.

If your haven't had a recent blood test ask for one. It has to be at the very earliest, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose of levo and test and take afterwards. Also ask for B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate too as deficiencies can also cause symptoms.
Get a print-out of your results with the ranges and post for comments.
Yes, it is a common symptom.
Hello all,
Thank you so much for your replies. Still dealing with this awful apathy I *want* to care about things again...*sigh*
I've made a new post with my latest labs (here: healthunlocked.com/thyroidu..., and I also asked for those vitamin/mineral tests (including vitamin D and folate); will need at least a week to get those results as I just had those tests done.
I appreciate your help so much, and send best wishes to each of you.
