Blood test results
C2691 I just wanted to say that if you want to tag another member, you need to select from the drop down box which appears when you type " @their name " so that it appears as greygoose Clutter SlowDragon
🙂
I tried but no drop down menu appears 🤷🏻♀️ thank you for tagging them though.
If you want to alert people about your post you have to put an @ then begin first couple of letters of their name but then look down below and you will see suggestions appearing. You click on the one you want and Clutter etc appears. You will see it also turns blue You have to bring cursor down the page so you can see the names.
Are you on any Levothyroxine or still trying to get diagnosed. ?
Your ferritin is terrible. You need to take this to GP and ask for full iron panel.
Definitely will need to take ferrous fumerate supplements 2 or 3 daily. But iron infusion may be better
Your B12 is very low, ask GP to consider testing for Pernicious Anaemia before starting B12 injections
If they won't, then you need daily sublingual B12 lozenges plus a good vitamin B complex. This will improve your low folate too

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

There's no vitamin D test.
Would suspect that will be low too
Ask GP to test.
If not can test here

Or direct
All these being low suggests low stomach acid
This is extremely common with being hypo
Both your FT4 and FT3 are on low side
TSH on higher side, not that GP will agree
Look at getting all vitamins optimal and thyroud may improve
Or improving vitamins with get thyroid results such that GP will treat
Perhaps selenium supplements too
Vitamin C can help as well as its acidic - essential to take with iron supplements

I noticed in past posts you have IBS
You might seriously consider strictly gluten free diet
Have you had coeliac blood test? If not ask GP to or purchase on line before changing to strictly gluten free diet
Not on any medication, this is the first thyroid test I have had. The notes from the dr from medichecks basically saying everything fine. I just feel so unwell I can’t understand how everything is fine!
Thank you for you detailed reply, much appreciated. The majority of last year I was anemic took so many iron tablets over the year. Sorry if this is TMI but it was put down to heavy bleeding, I’ve since been discharged from gynaecologist after laparoscopy & hysteroscopy and no cause for the heavy bleeding was found. He discharged me and told me to investigate IBS. I don’t understand how there is no reason for the bleeding and to not investigate anything else. Not yet been diagnosed with IBS. Haven’t been diagnosed with anything at all yet apart from PCOS.
My mum has hypothyroid and my sister has an autoimmune disease.
I have hair loss, abdominal cramps & pain, pelvic pain, terrible menstrual issues, muscle aches, joint pain I’m 26.
In your opinion, could there still be an issue with my thyroid? My celiac test a few years back was negative, can celiac results change?
I think you are very likely hypothyroid.
The problem is your results don't reflect that
You probably have low stomach acid, which is extremely common when hypo
This causes very low vitamin levels and this "hides" the thyroid issue
It's catch 22
So to break the circle you need to supplement like mad.
B12 and folate too low. Ask GP to test for Pernicious Anaemia. They should offer B12 injections
If not then Supplementing B12 sublingual lozenges and good vitamin B complex with folate
Ferritin is terrible - so continue supplementing. Include vitamin C to help absorption
Heavy periods are classic sign of being hypo
See the detailed supplements advice in link I gave you
Essential to get vitamin D test - £28
Aches and joint pain will probably be low vitamin D
Very likely too low. Get test and post results when you have it
Plus look at strictly gluten free diet. You can be gluten intolerant, without being coeliac
Not everyone with autoimmune thyroid disease (also called Hashimoto's) has high antibodies
Do you know if you Mum has Hashimoto's?
Hypothyroid affects the gut and leads to low stomach acid and then low vitamin levels
Low vitamin levels affect Thyroid hormone working
Poor gut function can lead leaky gut (literally holes in gut wall) this can cause food intolerances. Most common by far is gluten
According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)
But don't be surprised that GP or endo never mention gut, gluten or low vitamins. Hashimoto's is very poorly understood
Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal

Get vitamins sorted and strictly gluten free diet then retest whole lot again in 3-4 months time
Thank you so much for your advice and taking the time to reply with all that information. I don’t think my mum has hashimotos, I just know she is on medication for under active thyroid. I will speak to my GP About anemia at next appointment and change my diet asap. Thank you again, I’m sure I’ll be back soon with more test results. Sorry if this is an obvious question, you can tell I have no idea about all this but... is ferritin, iron? So to fix ferritin is the iron tablets I will have taken in the past? I think I had ferrous sulfate all last year?
She probably does have Hashimoto's, (autoimmune thyroid disease) just medics think it irrelevant to test or tell the patient as they have no idea how to treat the autoimmune aspect
Over 90% of primary hypothyroidism is due to autoimmune thyroid disease
Diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
Worth getting her to do Full Medichecks tests if she doesn't feel 100% or just antibodies if she's never had them tested
Ok thank you, I will take on board all your advice. If I ask my GP to check my iron, will she also check
B12 & folate or is that a separate blood tests?
Also, if I supplement like mad as you suggested, if there was a thyroid problem would this then show up on a blood test once vitamin levels were ok?
