Since Aug & Sept 2017 Morningside Healthcare and Teva have also been manufacturing Liothyronine. Some members prefer them to Mercury Pharma Liothyronine while others do not.
Hello, I use T3 only. Please may I ask you - do you split your tablets? I notice their guidance is to dissolve and syringe etc which I would find totally inconvenient. Do you just cut your pills? I hope you don’t mind my asking x
I have been taking Morningside for about twelve weeks now. I am actually feeling better. Obviously, this could be due to other factors, but I specifically asked my pharmacist to try and source Morningside for me when I put in my recent prescription. Hope this helps!
PS. Also a MUCH longer use by than Mercury Pharma.

Hi Liverbird 1964, I don’t mind you asking at all. I certainly don’t now and have never used the dissolve in water/ syringe technique, which I think would be wasteful?? (i.e., what do you do with the remaining half??) Instead, I have a sharp little knife that I use. I hold the tablet firmly between the thumb and forefinger of my left hand and cut it.
I am becoming quite adept at this now and on a fairly regular basis I manage a nice clean cut. I store the remaining half of the tablet in a pill box ready for my next dose.
On those occasions when part of the tablet crumbles, I put the half that hasn’t crumbled in the pill box and make sure that I get my full 10mcg by licking the plate/knife etc. It looks a bit dodgy but it works for me ....and needs must!!!
I think the vast majority of us take 10mcg doses, so why none of the UK companies that make T3 produce a 10 mcg tablet is beyond me!!
Would be interested to see a poll about dosage size. Surely this would be the starting point of lobbying for 10mcg tablets.
An observation: neither Morningside nor Teva are scored. Morningside texture, however, makes it easier to cut.
Thanks so much. I know what you mean. I have a tablet cutter and sometimes I nibble half if I need an extra 5mcgms 🤣. In the USA you can get Cytomel in 5s! Why the U.K. can’t source it is beyond me! Good luck and keep well. Thanks so much x
As my dose of T3 was 10mcg, half a 20mcg tablet, and I'm now using the French one which is a 25mcg tablet I asked my pharmacist if it would be OK to cut it in half and then nip a bit off. She said no, I should dissolve the whole tablet in 25 ml of water and then take 10 ml off. I wasn't going to waste my T3, the difficulty I have getting it, so did it my way and haven't had any ill effects yet. MY GP said it would be OK to take the whole half tablet.
