I'm a 20 year old girl and I had migraines when I was 13 but they never recured since then. But now I always smell this funny smell like fresh blood and I feel like my nasal veins are going to burst. I don't know what is wrong and I'm getting slight headaches
Please help me anyone..

I used to often smell a metallic sort of smell before I got a migraine. It’s called an aura. For me it always smelled really strong yet no one else with me could smell it which was weird. I haven’t had it for a while though.
Nowadays I get a sort of sparkles shape on the edge of my vision - a bit like if you look at a very bright light and get the dazzle when you look away - the sparkle gets larger and larger until it is all I can see, then it goes away. It’s still there even if I close my eyes because it’s a migraine and it’s actually in my brain. If I take a couple of paracetamol then the headache doesn’t develop.
You could always speak to your doctor about it just to be sure everything is ok.
These smells are usually triggered by strong perfume smells, heat or burning oil. The headache is not too much but I can get severe pain that goes through my left eye side to the back of my head occasionally. I wear spectacles but still get those smells and headaches
I know just where you are coming from - I can’t bear to be close to people wearing powerful perfumes or after shave. Generally I am really sensitive to smells and always notice things that don’t seem to bother other people.
Unfortunately I get dreadful sinusitis too but the smells were migraines. I’d go speak to my doctor about it or book in for an eye test with my optician.
Fruitandnutcase ~ yes, I get those 'lights' ~ it's like looking through beveled glass ~ then I get a blind spot and can't read or see faces etc. ~ I know it usually means a migraine so if possible I lie down or sleep for a bit. Haven't had many since I started on the myriad of supplements on advice from forum :0) x
Fruitandnutcase I get the sparkle effect at the corner of my eyes and GP said it was occular migraine. Also eye half-clouds over and then after a short while recedes again. I luckily don't get the headache with it at all.
Chakasara your problem does rather sound like something to do with sinus trouble. Hope it resolves soon for you.
It does sound like sinuses but I would mention it to GP ~ they may refer you to ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist if it continues. You can buy an isotonic nasal rinse called Sterimar ~ it's purified sea water ~ messy, but effective. Make sure your immune system is supported ~ Vit C etc. search around forum in search box to see if anything applies to you, but bear in mind people on here have thyroid disorders. Do you have any reason to think that you may have thyroid problems? Mamapea x
Hi Chakasara it sounds like sinus to me... Sinus pain and inflammation isn't at all comfortable and leads to migraines and headaches. I have epilepsy, and always get a massive headache on the left temporal side a few days before a massive tonic clonic seizure!
