Have you been diagnosed ? You shouldn't self treat if not.

Hi I am guessing I have hyperthyroidism?

Thanks

TSH 0.02 (0.2 - 4.2)

Free T4 25.2 (12 - 22)

But you need a proper diagnosis and to be seen and managed by an Endocrinologist. Hyperthyroidism needs careful management with regular tests and dose changes, you will also need other tests to determine if you have Graves or any other problems.

I was diagnosed hypothyroid by a GP and now I am hyperthyroid so GP says diagnosis is wrong

Were you given Levothyroxine when diagnosed Hypo ? If you are taking Levo you are possibly a tad overmedicated or if you have Hashimotos then you could be in a hyper phase but you can't be hypo then hyper. You really need a T3 result.

FT3 3.2 (3.1 - 6.8)

Was given levo when diagnosed and TPO antibodies 571 (<34)

Are you psychic? lol You've just answered my question!

Yes, you do have Hashi's. Do you know what Hashi's is? It's an autoimmune disease, where the immune system slowly destroys the thyroid. And, after an immune attack, the dying thyroid cells dump their stock of hormone into the blood, temporarily raising hormone levels.

But, that does not mean that you are hyper, and it does not mean that you need to take carbi! The levels will go down by themselves, and you will be hypo again, and need to take your levo. Your present GP is very ignorant!

So, what were your results when you were diagnosed hypo? Your TSH is low now, and your FT4 is high-ish, but that doesn't automatically mean that your original diagnosis was wrong.

Have you had your antibodies tested? You could have Hashi's.

Have you been taking thyroid hormone replacement? You could be slightly over-medicated.

And, before any diagnosis can be made, you need your FT3 tested.

Do not rush into taking carbimazole without having all the facts. And certainly don't try self-treating with it. It's far more complicated than levo.

TSH 44 (0.2 - 4.2)

FT4 9.2 (12 - 22)

TPO antibody 571 (<33)

Your hypo diagnosis was right and as greygoose says you have hashi so don't need carbimazole. Can I just say if you had added all these details to your original question it would have been much easier to answer 🤗

If I were you I would be finding a new GP who knows about thyroid disease.

Good luck 😉

When were those labs done? The levels have possibly gone down again, by now.

Pretty sure they've gone down again by now.

Your GP doesn’t seem to understand how autoimmune thyroiditis (AKA Hashimoto’s) works. You can swing between being under active and overactive, depending on whether your immune system is attacking your thyroid (literally damaging it, but in the process, your thyroid releases too much hormone and sends you hyper temporarily). Eventually, all the damage that can be done will be done, and you’ll be left permanently hypothyroid.

You definitely don’t need carbimazole - put that out of your head. You do need a doctor with a brain though...
