Hi I am new to group

I had some blood tests done last week and have just been told I am overtly underactive thyroid. I have been told I need a repeat test in 6-8 weeks. I have some symptoms such as weight gain, numbness, dizzy spells, hard stool, fatigue, are these all likely hypothyroid symptoms please or unrelated please? Sorry but my GP didn't tell me what sort of symptoms I should be having. Thank you very much

Hi Kathleen

Welcome. Yes, those are all symptoms and you’ve certainly come to the right place for advice. I have had so much help and I’m sure you will too

Hi I have just put a post up coz I had a blood test done and have just been told I am borderline under active thyroid and to have another test done in the next 3 months.

I too have had weight gain, fatigue, numbness in fingers, diarrhoea etc. Have a look at my post coz Shaws the administrator put up some very good links and some great advice. x

Thanks will look at this

So what were you prescribed?

50mcg of Levothyroxine daily? Or are you waiting to see an Endocrinologist?

Have you had any tests to check your Adrenal Function?

You could also ask for blood tests to check your nutrients levels of :

Vitamin D

Calcium

B12

Folate

and Ferritin.

Ask for presriptions for Lactulose medicine and Fybogel sachets also.

Hi thanks I am to take 50mcg levothyroxine a day and not seeing an endocrinologist. Have been informed my bloods for folate/ferritin/B12/D/calcium have come back abnormal and the GP wants to talk to me about them. Haven't had adrenal function checked

Always obtain copies of all test results with ranges - so you can monitor your own health and post here with good information for people to comment. Start a new thread with results and doses prescribed. GP's often prescribe too little for you to find wellness - so the advice from members here is invaluable :-)
