I’ve noticed that many of you don’t feel your meds are helping enough. Even after 4 years. And that your blood work results aren’t showing enough progress. This is hard for me to understand. I’m As British as one can possibly be. My family goes back to the tribes in Lancashire. My grand father bailed out in 1898 and moved across the pond. Went to University in Southampton. Have been considering an ancestors visa. Now I’m wondering about your health care system. Ours is completely broken and very very expensive. I am lucky that I have have an extremely brilliant Endocrinologist. Been seeing him 28 yrs. minus one year and that was bad. I’m not an M.D. but have many yrs working in medicine, emergency department and paramedic. I’m thinking most of you need better doctors. Find one that has done lots of research before going into practice. Find out everything you can about several different Endocrinologists, and if they think out of the box or seem open to trying new things, try one of them. Do you get a choice of docs in the NHS? All of you are WAY more informed about you thyroid issues, tham 90% of Americans. Wish You won the war in 1716. I think we’d be much better of. And the uneducated voted Trump in. What an embarrassment! OMG. We are in deep trouble.i don’t belong here. Does anyone live near Blackburn?

Sorry to write about some irrelevant things to the site,

Happy Christmas to you all and we’ll really try for a better new year over here.🎄🇬🇧

We moved here in 2004 - so plenty of time to get used to things :-) I love being able to spend so much time outside and to have doors and windows open for much of the year. Love all the fresh produce and eating out is cheap and made from scratch. Somehow life seems to be at a slower pace than in the UK and therefore not stressful .... it suits me but I appreciate it would not suit everyone - especially if you need to work .... Would love to see my family more often - so there is always a downside to all good things ....

Sounds wonderful! The town I live in used to have pop. Of 200 people. Now there are 25,000. I’m an out door country person. The summer temperatures have increased 15 degrees a day in summer. My thyroid does dot tolerate the increase, nor the stress.

We were ranchers. There was no hurried atmosphere or stress, which dominates this area, now. There was no traffic. Now it’s awful. California is full, so they are moving to Nevada and driving out many Nevadans.

So I’m looking elsewhere. I must live where the temperature stars below 90 degrees.

How hot does it get in Crete?

Happy New Year!

Awen, it is very difficult to find gp's over here that know a great deal about thyroid disease, or endocrinologists for that matter. The truth being they learn very little about this in med school. This is mainly why those of us on this site appear to be so knowledgable about our conditions, we have done much personal research and also share it with each other. It can be difficult to actually get a diagnosis over here too as the bottom range is generally far higher than we would like.

As Marz says decide where you really want to live then treat yourself. Good luck and have a very Happy Christmas x

Having moved to Crete in 2004 - I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in 2005 at 59. Here we keep all medical records and have the freedom to choose who we see as consultants - mostly private but affordable. I also organise my own blood tests - some NHS and some Private - all on the same form. Once you have researched your condition and know what is what - I really think we are better to take our health into our own hands. It is well acknowledged that Auto-immune issues are only understood in the Functional Medicine field .... and so life goes on ....

Thank you all for the advice. If you check out the countries with the best medical care, the uk is listed as twice as good as the US. As the only free country without any socialized medicine, I’m very disappointed. If you are born disabled or become disabled from you job, you can apply for free health care. You can also apply for social security supplmenal income. The gov. gives you enough to exist. The cost of medical care here is outrageous. I was admitted in hospital overnight. They sent me home because they had no idea why my heart had been pounding for 3 weeks, making my chest and ribs hurt. My dr. Thinks it’s from my thyroid. He is brilliant, but his office staff is imcompetent. In one month they only managed to get ono set out of 5 tests to the office for my dr. to review. Plus the 3 times she assured me she had every test back. Which means I drove 80 miles to Reno Nevada And back for nothing. Bottom line, things don’t seem any better Here.. I am aware of how educated all of you are regarding your thyroid issues. Impressive, compared to here.

Wishing you all Happy Holidays🎄

I’m looking for my relatives in or near Blackburn. If anyone would like to write about that or anything, I’d really enjoy it.
