Am I hypothyroid? :-/

Hey peoples, just somebody advice please. I have symptoms of:- goitre, nodules on thyroid and parathyroid, fatigue, adult acne on neck and jaw, restless/weak arms and legs, numb/pins and needles in hands and feet, weight gain, stiff joints when sat for short periods and a slow muddled brain (losing words, forgetting things instantly!) TFT always comes back normal but I never thought before to question it. My aunt and 2nd aunt also have hypothyroidism and had their thyroids removed.

Here are my latest bloods after insisting on tf3 and tf4 were added to form.

Tsh level 0.83 (0.3 - 5.5)

Serum free T4 level 15.4 (12.0 - 22.0

Serum free triiodothyronine level 5.4 (3.1 - 6.8)

I’m really confused because I am not exaggerating any of my symptoms!

It would be a good idea to have the following tested - B12 - Folate - Ferritin & VitD. Low B12 can mimic low thyroid with many shared symptoms.

And antibodies! You really need your antibodies tested.

B12 and antibodies, thank you. Bit D was tasted and was well within range

Do you have the numbers for the vit D? It really doesn't help us to help you to just use terms like 'in range', 'normal', etc. We need the numbers. :)

Serum total 25-hydroxy vitamin D level - 67 nmol/L (50.0 - 144.0)

Embob15,

Your thyroid levels are euthyroid (normal). Nodules on thyroid glands are quite common and don't usually affect thyroid levels.

Have you had calcium and parathyroid hormone checked to make sure the parathyroid nodules aren't causing hyper or hypo parathyroidism?

Pins and needles in hands and feet are symptoms of B12 deficiency or possibly calcium deficiency. Ask your GP to test calcium, B12 and folate.

VitD 67 is sub optimal. 75 is replete and most people are comfortable around 100-150 nmol/L. You can supplement 5,000iu D3 for 4-6 weeks to raise vitD and then reduce to 5,000iu alternate days but I would hold off doing so until you know whether calcium is normal.
